19 month difficult eater likes this book 28. März 2012
Von DD - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Pappbilderbuch Verifizierter Kauf
My son is an extremely difficult and picky eater so out of desparation, I bought this book to encourage him. While I can't say this book has solved his eating issues, he does seem to like the book a lot more than I expected (I find it a little boring but I'm not a toddler!). He is able to follow the "story" with no problem and identify all the foods, the utensils, etc. It might have encouraged him to try strawberries recently.

Great for Learning Manners and Trying New Foods 10. März 2013
Von Brynnlux - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Pappbilderbuch
I am always looking for board books that are about having good manners during meals and are positive about trying new foods. I have been using French Kids Eat Everything: How Our Family Moved to France, Cured Picky Eating, Banned Snacking, and Discovered 10 Simple Rules for Raising Happy, Healthy Eaters as a way to teach my daughter to eat more foods, and one of the tips in the book is about reading books to kids that are about growing food, and eating food. You would be surprised how many books there are about characters who refuse to eat a certain type of food. I think it puts the idea into the child's mind that those foods are yucky so then they don't want to eat that food either. So now before I buy a book to do with food I try to find it at the library first so I can read it myself before showing it to my daughter.

I checked this one out of from the library and I love it. I'm definitely going to purchase it after I take it back. This book is great. Not only does it show happy, smiling kids who are using great manners during their meal, they are also happily eating at least one bite of everything on their plates. My daughter loves this book, especially the last page of the children playing at the end of the meal. She would have us read it 20 times a day. My husband likes to explain each illustration after reading the text and she loves that. I like to add my own rules during the portion about table manners (No feet on the table, no throwing cups...)

We read this book right before meals so the words are fresh in her mind. Throughout the meal we remind her about what she learned from the book and it sort of helps, but she is still learning. She is very strong willed and one book is not going to stop her from acting out, but it does help her understand some of our rules.

Great for my 18 month old 2. Januar 2012
Von Pamplemousse - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Pappbilderbuch
My 18 month old son loves this book, and all of the books we've tried thus far in this series (sharing and calm down time). The text is still a little advanced for him, but he gets the general idea. He seems to love the illustrations, too, and goes back to wanting to read the series pretty regularly.
Fun book and gets my toddler to eat! 29. Dezember 2014
Von Joshua W. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

So here is my funny story with this book. We got it from the library when my son was 1.5 and read it to him. It was great because he could recognize the pictures and foods. It encouraged him to enjoy food and see others enjoying too. All the characters are always smiling! So one of the lines in the book is, "Always try one bite! you just might like it!" The first time my son refused food, I sort of mumbled the line to him quietly. He perked up and laughed so I went and grabbed the book and read the line from that same page. Magic! he took a bite! It became a tradition. Whenever he won't try something new we sing the line to him, grab the book (we keep it near the table!) and presto--he tries one bite. He might spit the bite out, yes, but he has never refused trying something new. How is that for the power of words and books, eh?! Now as he is older, we don't even need to quote or show the book--he does it out of habit. While I can't guarantee your kid will do the same, this book really made an impact for us. We got it so many times from the library we finally just bought it. If nothing else, I want to save it to show him when he is older so we can laugh about it.

As for the book itself--it is a nice solid thick board book. No flimsy pages here. The pictures are simple, clear and colorful. The people pictured are diverse and the message is good. They show healthy foods, not junk or sweets. And it talks about table manners too. It really does this in a fun and enjoyable way and I think it is a cheerful - definitely not punitive - book about eating and food. You can't really lose with this one. It's nice also that it focuses on several kids--looks like maybe it is in a daycare or school, rather than one kid because I think my son liked that he could be part of all those kids by eating. Group mentality works here.

It's a small book but I would highly recommend it. There are so many complicated books abut eating these days, it's nice to just have a simple straightforward one like this. I like the series as well but the other books are not as good as this one in my opinion.

Good idea, but dull. 7. November 2014

Okay. Boring. Not too engaging for a toddler. Nice idea, but needs to be more fun.
