Kurzbeschreibung

2. Oktober 2012
The mad scientist of the Moleskine, European illustrator Mattias Adolfsson’s lush sketchbook drawings are collected for the first time in North America.

For the first time in North America, brilliant Swedish illustrator Mattias Adolfsson’s incredibly lush sketchbook illustrations are collected in a facsimile Moleskine edition. Adolfsson, in between assignments for the New York Times, videogame design, children’s books and other major publications, spends his time filling untold Moleskines with intricate and beautifully detailed drawings of whatever strikes his fancy. From hot-rod spaceships to rocket-fueled fountain pens, from baroque robots to Richard-Scary-gone-berserk cityscapes, Adolfsson uses his imagination to create everything mad scientists world-over haven’t even begun to dream up.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Charming and inspiring 9. Oktober 2012
Von Parka TOP 500 REZENSENT
Format:Taschenbuch
Länge: 1:28 Minuten
It's just another typical day in a town imagined by Mattias Adolfsson. On one street there's a car caught in a traffic of sheep herded by an old man, right at the junction there's a pink dinosaur. In the back alley is another dinosaur, this one with a hat and handbag. Up on the roof, a tractor is plowing soil. On a nearby roof, archers are practicing with their target boards.

What I've described above is just a small scene picked from the cover art of a town buzzing with activity. There are many more imaginative drawings inside this 128-page paperback book that's curiously made to look like a Moleskine sketchbook with its rounded page corners. I love looking at the sketches. There's so much detail in his whimsical scenes and idiosyncratic characters. This book collects his sketches from 2006 to 2012.

I also have his earlier sketchbook called The First In Line which is selling only on his blog. I would recommend getting that as well because of the hardcover, paper and printing quality that I think is better than Mattias Unfiltered. Not that the production quality of this book is bad, it's just that his first sketchbook is better. The colour printing for this book is slightly lighter, lacking the contrast and vibrancy compared to the first book. There isn't any duplicated work on either book.

It's a charming and inspiring sketchbook. I'll be going back to it regularly, it seems that each time I look at the sketches, I would see something new that I've missed out.

Highly recommended.

I discovered Mattias work in the NY Times Magazine and started following his blog. This book is a compilation of sketches from his moleskin which make it feel so personal. The drawings are so detailed, I find myself starring at them for long periods of time and each time discovering a new detail I missed the last time. Thank you for such a beautiful gift!

I'm biased, I love everything Mattias Adolfsson does. It's intricate and whimsical and purely creative. I'm glad to have this as part of my Adolfsson collection. Check out his personal Etsy shop for goods not available on Amazon

I first discovered his blog by following an image link through google and I've been hooked ever since. This is simple, unadulterated sketching perfection, with a creative mind to match the skill demonstrated with ink and brush. Mattias Adolfsson is a genius, buy this book and experience it for yourself..100% guaranteed viewing pleasure.

This book contains no text, just illustrations from the artist's sketchbooks. That being said, it's exactly what I expected. The drawings are very intricate and interesting. I`m glad I bought it.
