If you want to get a basic idea what kind of mathematics you should have learned during your undergraduate studies, this book shows it to you. Importance has been attached to the principle that is behind the theorems and methods (see: chap. 28). Personally, I do not know how mathematics for scientists is handled in the UK, but in Germany this book will probably just be partly a help for you since it is focused more on proofs and less on calculating the solution of a problem itself. But, if you intend to become an engineer, it will fit probably perfectly your needs. For physicists: Hmm, consider also the alternatives.
