5.0 von 5 Sternen This is a free chapter only...but it's a great one 9. August 2011
Von AcerAcer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I just wanted to point out that this free kindle version is only one subsection of the Manual for Living. For a small price you can individually download any other subsection that might interest you and of course you can pay to download the entire manual. But what you get for free here is only one subsection.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Life After Death? How about Finding Life BEFORE Death 27. Juni 2011
Von Mary Agnes Antonopoulos - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I pride myself on being amazingly in love with life and working at always seeing the spirituality in everything around me, but I've definitely struggled with some of the bigger questions in life, like a fear of death and discovering my true purpose. I've been sober almost 20 years - which is almost half of my lifetime, and even truly living a 12-step philosophy, answers to those struggles have eluded me. And this struggle only gets worse when someone I love dies, which is what happened last year -- my brave, wonderful dad passed away, leaving me baffled and lost.

I met Seth Chernoff at an author's event in New York City last month, and he sent me a copy of his book, "Manual For Living: Reality." I think I knew from the first two minutes of talking to Seth that something was shifting. I won't spoil or limit the impact of this book by being too specific, but I will say that I'm not as lost or baffled. My dad was a hero to me (and to a lot of people). He truly lived his life to the fullest -- I'm profoundly grateful to Seth Chernoff and his book for helping me to figure out how to do that too. There's no better legacy for my dad than to learn to love life and live it as fully as he did, and I feel like I finally have the missing piece to making that happen.

"We must simply release our agendas, our pains, our concerns, and our worries in order to appreciate fully what is available to us in every moment. We must release our agenda in order to truly appreciate the opportunity presented before us in the moment, for only then will we realize that even the manifestations of a lifetime net exactly zero. All we have and all we are is what we share from within each moment. We take nothing with us but our soul's history and leave nothing behind but memories." ~ Seth David Chernoff (Manual For Living - Reality)

disguised as as a book.
I don't always have time to see how many pages a book has. If I wanted a sample, I would ask for one.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Small little book that is kind of like a more advanced version of "The Secret" 23. November 2012
Von Charles T. Franklin - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
With a title like "Manual for Living: Reality-Time, a book can either can exceed your expectations or let them down horribly. The general gist of the book is that our perception and our attempts of controlling time are what actually cause us to have more problems including less time, more stress, and less enjoyment of life. If you have read "The Secret", this book kind of uses language similar to that, although with a deeper, more insightful focus and from a more advanced level. Also, if you have read Martin Gover's books like "Time Control - Taking Control and Achieving Goals (Creating Lifestyle)", the philosophy from that book is pretty much similar to this one.

This book actually skimmed the surface. Some things about this book (language, insight, and of it match or even exceed what I thought it would be and other sections we (title, lack of concreteness, font changes) For a such a small book, it does pack a deep psychological punch and has a lot of what I call "quotable material", those little nuggets of information that you write down to post on your wall. On the other hand, like The Secret, the book doesn't really add anything strong solutions to implementing its philosophy into real life. For example, the book keeps pointing back to the point of balance and slowing down. I agree with this point, but there are no concrete steps or examples that show you how to start this. As a reader of time management books, I don't expect a detailed list, but I would like to see some action steps or take-aways I can use to get started. In that regard, I would say Martin Gover's book would be a little better in helping you with that. Still, this book does give a lot of "food for thought" for the price that it is (free) and the concise number of pages, it is a book you will want to consider for your spiritual and meditation study.

I recommend this book for people who have read "The Secret", and those interested in spirituality (especially Buddhism). It is not a time management book per se, it is more of a philosophical and meditative reflection on time that you can use to realign and refresh your spirit and soul.

Pros
* Language: The book is written in the flowing style of "wisdom literature" with quotes throughout which readers of this type of literature should love.
* Deeply Insightful Content: The book has a lot of poignant content delivered in a way that will make it immediate, accessible, and (hopefully) easy to remember.
* "Highly Quotable Material" In all of the books I read (fiction or non-fiction), I look for what I call "tiny little nuggets of wisdom" or quotes that I can write down and remember for use in my daily life. This book is full of them.

Cons
* Title: On a personal level, the title was both a pro and con to me. On one hand, the title is epic and all-encompassing. On the other, the title is so all-encompassing, readers may not know what to expect. For example, I was a little confused about whether I would be reading a "time management" book or a personal anecdote about a personal understanding of time. It kind of turned out to be a little of both.
* Lack of Concrete Steps: As mentioned before, the book is good on providing inspiration, but no so good in showing you how to apply that inspiration to your life.
* Font Change: There are some sections in the text where the font is really tiny. It may be a publishing error, but it distracted me from reading a little.

4.0 von 5 Sternen A Life Improving Read 14. Februar 2012
Von Patrizia BPG - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
This is a good book with well-explained information, which if used, would improve the reader's life.

I have read several books similar to this, so unfortunately for me, I did not really come across anything I haven't already learned.
However, it is still very useful to read such things again from time to time as a reminder.

I would feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone. If you have never before learned the things discussed in this book, it can be life changing, and even if you have learned these things before, it is always useful to hear it again and again, to help burn it into your mind.
