The title of this book is too modest. It could be "Develop a Great Story and Adapt it into a Great movie." It's also strong on business essentials from industry insiders. Highly recommended.

This is an intelligent book full of practical useful advice on the adaptation of stories and books for film. Marlow does an excellent job researching his subject, and has personal experience himself having broken into Hollywood with no connections going in. In addition the book includes many valuable interviews with other Hollywood insiders who share their practical advice within these pages too. A solid choice for any screenwriter wishing to know more about the ins and outs of adaptation as well as what Hollywood is looking for in books and scripts.

This book is excellent in regards to creating a good story for both screenplays and other formats. The book can be used with Novels and Comics or even video games and in his book he breaks down creativity via loglines and story structure and views it from a practical and almost scientific fashion- Art in essence is science, as science is an art. The book does focus on the Movie aspect since thats its title. The book is a good addition for novelists and screenwriters to add to their library.

This is a very good book. It provides excellent guidance on how to write a screenplay, and delves deeply into the business side of Hollywood. My impression is that the author has put in many years of hard work to learn his trade and is genuinely interested in helping people who are just starting out. He provides a wealth of information, facts, figures and recommendations, all in a lively conversational style. The book was a quick and easy read, but one that I will return to many times as a vital reference. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to write a screenplay.
