"Make me, Channing. Make me fall. Push me, shove me, just make sure I get there.” I shout at him, taking a step back. His eyes clash with mine. I read the challenge there, making me take another step back.
He stalks the few steps to me and grabs my arms slamming his forehead down on mine, “I’ll make you.” His lips skim against mine as he continues to speak, “And I’ll be falling right there with you.”

Paisley Vaughn grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. After finding her mother dead from an overdose, Paisley and her baby sister are shipped off to live with her maternal grandparents.

She always knew they were rich, she just didn’t realize how rich they were. Now she’s being forced to go to a prestigious high school. One where the tuition is more money then she’s ever seen.

Thinking these rich kids are going to be snobbish and rude, she’s surprised to find the Vaughn name means she’s untouchable. Well unless your name is Channing Southerland.

Paisley has to navigate her new life and all the new people in it. While her mother might have lied about her grandparents, no one is lying about Channing. He’s beautiful, mean, arrogant, and turning her on.

Before long a war is fought, leaving Paisley wondering if she’ll be ruined or made. Though she might just fall irrevocably in love.

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

I live in southern Arkansas with my husband and young daughter. There is also an insane Boston Terrier running around. I've always been a lone wolf and find my friends in books. I started writing at a young age and I haven't stopped since. Most days you can find me either glued to my laptop or my kindle. My first novel, This Beautiful Thing was an Amazon best seller for 11 weeks and a year later I'm still tickled to see people enjoy it. I may not be a huge seller but I have the best fans ever and I thank God everyday for every single one of them.

    3.0 von 5 Sternen a good, easy-going read 26. November 2013
    Von xXMeXx
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
The story isn't exactly new or overly exting: two broken teenagers, one grew up in a trailer park,
the other in a mansion, fall for each other with all the unexplainable strong sexual attraktion and so on.

BUT the author does a great job, giving those two a good background story and making them interact
and "reasonably" fall in love, instead of this whole "in-one-moment-they-hate-in-the-other-they-love-eachother-thing"
that is so often used in YA literature nowadays.

Moreover, I liked following the thoughts of the protagonist, Paisley; because she was kind of easy to identify with.

Still, I felt like the characters, espacially, the secondary characters weren't quite fully developed and laked
personality; they were more likely to function as decor than anything else.

Another point that has cost this book a star is that it needs a spelling and grammar check.
There were way too many, very obvious mistakes, that I stumbled over, although my English isn't perfect either ;).

Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to the next book of this author.
I would recommend it to anyone who searches for an easy read that makes you escape reality for a while
and does not challenge your intellect too much, but is still entertaining.

1.0 von 5 Sternen irgendwie fehlt immer was 7. Dezember 2013
    Von Desiree
    Format:Kindle Edition

1.0 von 5 Sternen Not worth your time. 27. November 2013

This was just awful. Characters were completely unrealistic. Paisley was a perfect character who seemingly has no faults. Her relationship with Channing was boring and had zero chemistry. I really wish I hadn't wasted my time on this. I have read a lot of books but haven't ever felt the need to write a review until now.

2.0 von 5 Sternen The mix of pop culture, Cinderella story, and steamy scenes does not redeem this book for me. 27. November 2013
Von Vanessa Gregory - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I read the other reviews before buying this book for .99$. I thought I might luck out but I have mixed feelings now. The story was half bitter truths, half Cinderella story and I could have gotten over the predictability of it if the other had taken the time to decide on a voice and tone. What we end up is a mix of choppy diatribes by the female lead and the flashes back and forward which fail to establish the book as anything more than average writing and bad ideas. It seems the author was going for contemporary with mentions of Miley Cyrus music and Ugg boots but the sanctimonious lead character feel flat and underdeveloped. The characters are always changing their minds and their behaviors, with little to redeem any of them. I failed to summon up the emotions to feel good about this book in the end because it is shamelessly plugging the next book in the series. A good try but I felt like any good from the book was overwhelmed by the bad.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Made me want to puke. 24. Dezember 2013

The story line was decent. But it was hard to get over the fact that there were so many grammatical errors. The main characters were weak, with no real development. I struggled to finish the book, something I never say. This book is not worth it.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Wanted to like it 11. März 2014
    Von mandy - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I really wanted to like this book, the description showed potential, but that's about all that it was. The characters were one dimensional in my opinion. There needed to be a more thorough build up of the characters. I felt no connection with the protagonist and male lead as well as the supporting characters. I found some parts completely flat and unrealistic. For example the protagonist has lived in poor conditions all her 17 years of life--trailer park, no dad, drug addict mother, having to care for a little sister and herself, etc. Paisley's(heroine) mother overdoses and her long lost grandmother whom comes from money shows up to take custody of her and the little sister. That's not the unrealistic part for me, the part that seems ridiculous is the fact that Paisley adjusts to a wealthy life right away, I would assume she would be intimidated and modest because she's had such a tough life. She became a character that would seem to have been raised in a wealthy lifestyle. The grandmother's shady tendencies was not executed smoothly. She went from this grandmother seeming to make up for lost time to a witch. She was not cunning or manipulative as character which I believe the author was trying to emulate. There was a need for more plot and meat. Don't get me started on the male lead Channing. I like an enigmatic character especially when there's a rich person involved because they're expected to be shallow, vain and narcissist. But Channing didn't have enough story or a convincing one for his character. He was broody with Paisley right away, it felt like an Edward/Bella thing. I would have preferred him being arrogant, mean and a narcissist but with an added twist of something fleshes out. I has no connection or wanting for their relationship, no cheering or anger at the characters. It was just bland. Another thing that bothers me with NA books is the authors tendencies to choose weird names for their characters, it feels forced and just trying too hard. I'm not too crazy about the point of view as well, it made me feel disconnected.

    5.0 von 5 Sternen A Fun Escape! 14. November 2013
    Von Delphina - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Once I started Make Me, I could not put it down. It really was a fun escape read. Young girl lives in poverty with a drug addicted mom and a baby sister to raise, said young girl discovers she is actually filthy rich and moves to a life of luxury and falls in love with uber rich bad boy with a good heart and a not so good past. Yep, total fantasy and I loved it. I think the POV is what made it really work for me. It felt as if Paisley was my friend telling me all about her life. This may mean the voice of the story is too young for some, but I enjoyed it for what it was. If you are looking for a rags to riches story with true love, some heat, and an unbelievably awesome dog, this book is probably for you.

In the spirit of full disclosure even though it is a tad spoilery, Paisley and Channing are not blood relations, but have a common relative. I know that for some, this may be an issue.
