For the uninitiated, the Windows 2000 Professional exam contains a lot of material. For the experienced "pro" (whatever that means!), who has never taken an MCSE exam, Microsoft does their best at tripping you up, especially with its "more than one correct answer" and "scenario" questions.
I think Glenn Weadock has done a credible job of introducing the product and test taking process. However, I would find it difficult to believe that anyone can pass this exam solely reading this book. Having said that, the amount of material covered in this text is phenomenal, and is done as efficiently as is possible, and with a sense of humor, something that is sorely lacking in this business. The author's honesty attests to the fact that more resources than this book are necessary to attain certification, and references are given at the end to products the author considers good supplements to the book.
While I truly understand that writing a Microsoft test taking guide is a daunting task, and think that this manual contains alot of material that others don't, I believe it falls way short of supplying the necessary information to pass exam #70-210. Buy it, under the following conditions:
1. You have used the product extensively and just need a review guide to get through the exam. In this case, I would still supplement the text with Self Test Software's product.
2. You plan on purchasing at least one other textbook and Self Test Software's product.
One last word of advice, and Glenn Weadock also states this: by all means buy and use Windows 2000 Professional BEFORE taking the exam, if only for a week or two. Windows 2000 Professional is a fairly complicated product. Using it will clear up some of the confusion on an otherwise confusing but very stable O/S!
