'Macrame Creative Design in Knotting' is like many other craft books I've seen which offer many great inspirations for where you can go with a craft, but with little or no directions on how to actually accomplish most of the many superb examples of the Macrame craft.
This is made worse by the fact that among all these excellent 356 pics, only 18 are in color, and most of those in black and white are so intricate that it would take an exercize in exegesis to figure out how the artist accomplished the work.
I should not give the impression that the book contains nothing on fundimentals. It contains many basics. The problem is that the leap from these basics to the elaborate pieces in most of the pics is a real leap.
This goes even further than the kind of cookbooks we see from celebrity restaurants, except that if you know how to cook, you should have no problem recreating their dishes from the recipes. Not so here. Figuring out how these pieces were done is a major exercize in itself.
That doesn't mean you don't want this book if you are a macrame devotee. This has more inspiration per page than any other book I've seen on the subject. Most especially, it covers items far, far beyond the basic belts, shawls, and plant hangers. The most interesting items are embellishments for furniture and tapestry-like wall hangings.
As an inspiration, the nominal price for this book is well worth it for macrame zealots.
