5.0 von 5 Sternen History book/rock and roll journalist 11. Oktober 2008
Von Ian E. Mcgonigal - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This book is like the title to this review says. It read like a history book mixed with journals from a rock journalist. It has a lot of information that you won't find an any easy to read book out there, but is kind of mixed with dribble. Though, if you are intelligent enough to not be afraid to read this book, you are intelligent to read through dribble. I compliment the auther for his intense research and citation of it in the back of the book. Being a LaVeyian Satanist myself I don't see it, but people have told me that this book is a little bias against anti-christian opinions, again I don't see it. Buy this book for reference, and makes a good coffee table item :).

5.0 von 5 Sternen On the rise 26. Oktober 2007
Von C. Dunn - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This is a great book. Very informative and gives key insight to "the darker religion(s)". This is one of those books that organized religion fears as it shows that people who are individuals are their greatest threat. Get it now.

5.0 von 5 Sternen A real work of art. 11. Juli 2013
Von Draconis Blackthorne - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Abook of this kind is easily in the ranks with Satan Wants You: The Cult of Devil Worship in America by Arthur Lyons, as the credits & influences The Church of Satan has had on society & modern culture is fully recognized, thereby giving the Devil His due.

There are compelling interviews with Dr. LaVey {whose words are spread throughout the book as relative to the subject of the chapter at hand}, Blanche Barton, HP Peter Gilmore, a two-parter with Boyd Rice; Thomas Thorn of EHC; Kenneth Anger; Vincent Crowley of Acheron; Abaddon of Venom; Quarthon of Bathory; Coop; Rex Diabolus Church {whose necro-erotic art adorns the front cover}; Timothy Patrick Butler; Michael Moynihan of Blood Axis; Count Grishnacht & Euronymous of the 'Black Metal Circle' {a couple of presumptuous & antagonistic delusionals who declared 'war' on The Infernal Empire. As a consequence of their absurd proclamations, which can be compared to the flea crawling up the leg of an elephant with the intention of rape, one killed the other, both of whom declared eachother 'allies' reveal themselves herein to be nothing more than reverse-xians, still praddling about under the xian mythology, many times veering towards Tolkien's fantasy world - they very easily could be considered "Tolkienists", rather than Satanists {by their own admission, they would rather call themselves 'devil-worshipers' & 'slaves of Satan', dedicated to bringing about the most misery they can upon the world - just like xoids, whom they claim to respect, as they are, verily, brothers in arms, or 'black sheep'. In the same herd; then there's Glenn Danzig, Glen Benton of Deicide, King Diamond {who is accredited with the use of 'corpse-paint' for use by contemporary Death-Metallers}, Sister Namaah of The Kirk Von Satan {a veritable 'Satanic Nun'}, amongst others. The book is divided into three parts:

1. The History of Satanism, which covers the basic inceptions, superstitions, & practices of the aristocracies in indulgence, & the revolution of The Black Mass.

2. Satanism in The 20th Century, which includes historical recollections & occultic ties of The Third Reich, Gerald Gardner {the comical origin of 'wicca', which is about as 'ancient' as the turn of the century, & serial killers Richard Ramirez & David Burkowitz, among others.

3. The Satanic Millennium, explains the Infernal rise of the internet, diabolical board games, Columbine, Marilyn Manson, the afore-mentioned 'Black Metal Circle', & the future influences of Satanism upon the world.

Lucifer Rising takes on where Satan Wants You leaves off, & is a must for Satanists to possess - indeed, it is absolutely a part of Church of Satan history. This book is unprecedented, as it is a record written by a Satanist, someone who knows what we're all about, & thus takes an objective view on the subject, instead of the usual biased & bigoted misrepresentations of xoid Satanophobes. A real work of art.

5.0 von 5 Sternen NOT TO BE MISUNDERSTOOD 8. Mai 2011
Von Russell Errett - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Verifizierter Kauf
One may first applaud the book for its strength as a very well composed piece of journalism, providing a stable background framework for curious newcomers and, as well, filling in details for the already hip black-metal aficionado. Secondly, the layout of text contains bite-size morsels of illustrations that have a relevance to the topic; nothing gratuitous here. Also meriting note is the fact that the interviews with principals in the movement, as it were, contain intelligent questions and thoughtful answers. Not everyone is a smooth, ingenious eloquent rhetorician but those interviewed give the lie to the idea that participants in the culture are only grotesque miscreants, morons, or both. On the contrary, they display a greater historical awareness, and therefore too of the present, than commonly found in the superficial adherents populating the current slosh of popular music. A second similar volume of the theme, including the Americas perhaps, is called for.

5.0 von 5 Sternen a good book on satanism 15. Mai 2009
Von Walter Livingston - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Verifizierter Kauf
It is a good book on what satanism is.Also metaphorically a good like at satan throughout history. As of satanists I withhold my opinions.
