This is not the full guide book

I did not realize when I was buying this that it is not the full guide book. This "encounter" guide does not have anywhere near the coverage of the full Lonely Planet Cancun, Cozumel & the Yucatan (Regional Travel Guide). It covers way fewer places, and those places that are included have absolutely minimal coverage. It includes no hotel coverage whatsoever and the descriptions of the restaurants and sites that are included are significantly shorter than in the full version. The only potential advantages that I see over the full guide book are that it includes more photos and the maps are in full color. I don't care about either of those things and would far prefer the deeper coverage of the full guide.

The one guide you need for Yucatan!

My girlfriend and I took this book with us on our trip to the Yucatan and it proved to be an excellent resource! The reviews and suggestions were spot on and up to date. Unlike many guide books this one is updated annually which Is very important in a country like Mexico where things change quickly. I also appreciated the personal input and data for sites, activities, restaurants, lodging - it was great having personalized traveling advice. I also like the way the book is laid out making it easy to navigate. This guide was our constant companion and advisor and proved an invaluable resource. The trip would not have been the success it was without this book!
And for a great beach read I highly recommend A Tourist in the Yucatangreat thriller!

Disappointing

I was looking for a guide book for a short trip to the Yucatan and thought when I found this title it would be useful while in the area. I was disappointed to find that really, it only covers Cancun and sites close to it. There isn't much helpful information if you're traveling the greater Yucatan area. I'll be leaving it home when we go. The more appropriate title would be, The Cancun Encounter.
