Generally a good book 12. Dezember 1999
Format:Taschenbuch
During my two-week whirlwind driving tour around southern Norway, I used both LP Norway along with Fodor's Norway, and found Lonely Planet to be much more informative and better at capturing the essence of the country. I'm basing my opinion on both this trip and my previous experience living in Stavanger for 3 years as a teenager. This year's journey covered a lot of ground, originating in Stavanger, heading south along the coast through Kristiansand, northeast through Oslo, north through Lillehammer, and west through Lom to Geiranger, and then south through Gudvangen, Stalheim, and Bergen and back to Stavanger. In most regards, this book was pretty much right on the mark.

One aspect of the book which bothered me was the fact that it placed too much emphasis on Svalbard, an island archipelago halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole, and not enough emphasis on central and southern Norway, where over 98% of the population lives and the bulk of the tourist kroner are spent.

Best Guide for northern Norway 12. September 2010
Format:Taschenbuch
I used this book for my trip to northern Norway (Lofoten, Narvik, Vesteralen). As expected from LP, it provided me with sufficient information about sights, background informations (Vikings, history of towns, places to go) and accomodation (from first class to campsites and hostels), although I have to say that prizes are now a little bit higher. Moreover there are some more new campsites which aren't mentioned in the present issue.
All in all the best Guide for northern Norway on the market, 1 Star less for a lack of up-to-dateness.

The book itself: I needed a second guidebook as I was camping with my car, so I was not within LPs target group, i.e. the places I visited could not always be found in the LP which I had the second book for. Whatever I used the LP for fulfilled my high expectation of an LP issue

Now, for the ebook review: This is one of the first ebooks I read (and there were ample, a special lowlight was the currently bestselling bible version which I threw to rubbish after 1 hour) where someone really put effort into. No spell problems like in a lot of ebooks I read and, thats my main compliment, really good navigation provided. So except the table of content there was also a content list per chapter with links. And plenty of links in the text. The only thing that was not perfect, was finding the main entry for a place without going via the content lists but via the Kindle search. With the search you normmaly had to browse the matches to find the main entry (but after a while you basically know where each chapter starts so it would be quicker to get the main match).
