"Rainbow Dash and the Daring Do Double Dare (tm)".

Für Bronies und AJ-Fans auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Another fun chapters book by G.M Berrow. 15. Juli 2014
Von David - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Sweet Apple Acres is named as a finalist in the Best Orchard of Equestria Contest. The winner gets to be the exclusive apple supplier for Canterlot Castle and gets an extra plot of land. So, Applejack enlists all her friends to help. But they're not quite as helpful as she thought they would be.

Pinkie Pie is too hyperactive and can't focus so everything goes slow.

Rainbow Dash is supposed to fly over the tops of the trees but goes too fast (showing off) and knocks all the leaves out of some trees but only a few apples and leafless trees won't look good when they're being judged.

Fluttershy is tasked with getting all the small animals out of the trees because AJ think they'll look better that way (they can come back after the judging) but she's so nice she can't do it.

Rarity opts to make the Sweet Apple Acres Cider Booth front but she makes it all glittery and frilly and not at all what Applejack wanted. That's also the only thing she wants to do since she showed up in a fancy dress.

Twilight offers to see if she can get them more time because they're way behind now but AJ doesn't want to win that way.

After her friends try out one by one Applejack writes down all her frustration in a journal Granny Smith gave her. NOT their journal at Celestia and Luna's old castle. It's her Mom's old sketchbook from when she was a kid. So, naturally by a complete accident her friends see everything she wrote. How will they respond? How will it turn out? You'll have to read to find out. (though it's MLP I think you already know how it'll turn out xD)

Fun Fact: Remember the huge, bulky Pegasus that everyone called Snowflake before it was revealed his real name was Bulk Biceps? Well, he's in here but he's called Snowflake. I'm guessing this was written before the actual episode but still, a nod to the fans (again).

It was a fun read. I'd definitely recommend this.

Applejack is honest and kind - we love this book! 7. November 2014

We are huge MLP fans and Applejack's tale of honesty did not disappoint! My seven year old was able to easily read this and keep up with the storyline - she even read it to her little sister who, being familiar with Ponyville, stayed intrigued and listened the whole time! I love that these My Little Pony chapter books keep the spirit of the show and maintain the characters without getting crazy and going off track!

As the fifth of the six planned chapter books that each highlight one of the Mane 6, this one is all about everyone's favorite "background pony" of the group, Applejack. Like most Applejack stories, there isn't a deep plot involved, but more of a character analysis and her struggle with being the Element of Honesty.

We start off with a big pie-eating contest at Sweet Apple Acres, which Cranky Doodle Dandy wins. It's unusual to see Cranky taking part in a large social event, but he wins it by being as reserved as he usually seems. In the crowd is Bulk Biceps who here is still called "Snowflake", which means that this story was written before they officially changed his name in Season 4.

Afterwards, Applejack gets a visit by a pony named Blue Ribbon, who says that Sweet Apple Acres is up for winning the award for Best Orchard in Equestria, which will make them the apple suppliers of Canterlot Castle, which is somethingthat Prince Blueblood probably wouldn't care for. He gives her a week to have the farm ready for the official review, so the rest of the Mane 6 volunteer to help AJ throughout the week.

Applejack wants to write something about the whole experience in the journal that she and her friends were sharing throughout Season 4, but Rarity was using it, so Granny gives her an old diary that her mother used to own. This is really significant since its the first time that AJ's parents are ever really mentioned within the context of the given continuity. Still no real backstory on what their names were or what happened to them, but AJ uses it to start writing down some of her thoughts, which probably didn't involve her not learning anything.

Over the next few days, Applejack gets help from one or two of her friends at a time per day, but each one of them seems to disappoint her in one way or another, mostly because she's so particular about how farm labor should be done. We all know AJ can be stubborn, but she really lets this build up over time, and takes all her bottled up "honesty" to save for her personal journal which gets increasingly frustrated in each entry. Applejack forgets how her friends each like to take their own spin on things, and do it in their own signature way, which never seemed to bother her before, but this might be different since to her its messing with her business.

This all comes back to bite her in the flank when Applejack accidently gets her journal switched with the one she's sharing with the others, and the read all the negative criticisms she wrote down in it. After worrying that that they would all be mad with her, she's relieved to discover that they forgive her since she was just being honest and not outright telling off her friends when they were in fact helping her. Sweet Apple Acres officially wins the contest, and they start up business sending apples to Celestia. It's hard to say if this extra source of revenue will ever come up in any future plotlines though.

This was one the milder stories in the chapter book line, with not a lot out of line. It would've taken something a little more out of normal to happen like something threatening Sweet Apple Acres, or Applejack finder her true love, or some other plot device. It makes for a better story that doesn't alter the established timeline in any big way.
An honest to goodness review 20. April 2015

Pardon the pun-couldn't help myself. XD

While I realize I'm not in the target age group for this book, I'm a big fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and was interested to hear new stories about each of the main characters, and this one didn't disappoint.

This time around, the story revolves around Applejack trying to win an important contest for her family farm. Naturally, she recruits her friends to help her out, but when their advice and/or work ethic is less than helpful, she takes out her frustration in a personal journal. When her friends accidentally get a hold of the journal and read the sour entries about them, will the Mane 5's friendship with AJ be over?

Well, spoilers aside, I think it's safe to reveal that the Mane 6 still remains friends in the end (or we wouldn't have a show anymore XD). None the less, it was interesting to hear AJ vent about her friends' shortcomings (and honestly, we're all guilty of getting frustrated at even our best friends at some point or another). And eventually, AJ learns it's better to just tell your friends your problems instead of bottling it up (even if the truth can sting sometimes). And while the Mane 5 are understandably hurt at first, they take the critisizm in stride and help their friend anyway, and everyone is quick to forgive and make up. They won't let one incident ruin their friendship.

Another solid entry, and well worth an hour or so of your time.
