Ayinde is a beautiful, biracial newscaster who moves to Philadelphia after her husband, a star player for the NBA, is traded to the 76ers. She meets Becky, an overweight chef who plays the "pregnant or just fat" game every time she passes a mirror, and Kelly, an overachieving event planner who has her whole life mapped out down to the most minute details, after going into labor at a prenatal yoga class. The three become fast friends, and come to rely on each other for everything from burping techniques to intense emotional support. The group grows to include Lia, a semi-famous Hollywood starlet who leaves her husband and returns to Philly after a sudden tragedy.

Kurz zum Inhalt: Es geht um vier Frauen, die sich zufällig kennen lernen und dicke Freundinen werden, obwohl sie unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten. Es geht um Becky, Kelly und Ayinde, drei werdende Mütter. Jede hat ihre eigen Geschichte und ihre eigenen Probleme (eine schreckliche Schwiegermutter; einen fremdgegangenen Ehemann; einen Ehemann, der lieber auf der Couch sitzt, statt sich einen neuen Job zu suchen). Und es geht um Lia, die gerade ihr Babie verloren hat und versucht wieder im Leben Fuß zu fassen. Diese vier Frauen sind Freundinnen, wie sie jede Frau gerne hätte, die immer für einander da sind.
Described are here the stories about four women around motherhood. Very different fates (one lost her boy to the sudden kids death, another one is hyperprotective, the next one struggles with her mother in law and the third one with over-organisation) are meeting here by accident and the four of them become friends.
Jennifer Weiner writes very personal and believable about those life stories - but sometimes it lacked a little esprit.
Nevertheless the book gets more exciting after its own half-time and all of the ladies see a way how to overcome their own problems - especially by re-thinking and shifting perspectives.
All in all I liked reading the book much - even though I am not overenthusiastic about it.
You read this book and wish to meet them so real they feel.
