Every librarian in this book is female (in reality, more librarians than ever are male).
The librarians are checking out the books and shelving them--jobs usually performed by support staff except in very small libraries. Yes, many small libraries exist where this happens. But not every or even most librarians do these things. In very small communities country lawyers may do their own billing and scheduling, but that is rarely depicted as what a lawyer "does."
Even though the librarians depicted here have computers, the librarian is only described as being an expert on books. Even small libraries these days have librarians that are also experts on researching through the internet--which, guess what, the children young enough to read this book HAVE heard of. Also, the progams that even minute libraries perform for even very young children these days are not even touched upon.
The first sentence in this book is "The librarian has an important job." Good start. But not a good finish.
