Kurzbeschreibung

In 1980 I voted for the first time as an adult. I was 21 years old. I went to the GOP convention in Dallas and sold campaign buttons for the Reagan/Bush campaign. It was thrilling.

As a native Texan I had grown up believing in the Republican party, in Conservative principles, and economic theory. Over the course of my life, and as I have studied politics and economics, I have learned that the policies of the GOP are unsustainable, even illogical. What I share with you in this open letter, is what I have learned.

We are being lied to by Republican politicians. They do not represent our best interests, indeed it is easy to show that they in fact use us to gain and keep power - pretending to stand for what we believe, while padding the pockets of business interests who funnel them millions in contributions - against the very basic good of those who vote them into office.

If you keep an open mind, and are a seeker of the truth, I believe you will see - at some point in your reading - that I am right.

Dismantles the Foundations of the GOP 28. März 2011
Von bwbatlarge - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
In A Letter to US Middle-Class Christians, Daniel Burgin reveals to middle class Christians what he believes are the truths and motivations behind the GOP. He dismantles their economic and electoral strategic platforms, and exposes what he finds to be the "unsustainable" and "illogical" foundation of their economic policies and the insincere electoral strategies based on Christian social issues. He asserts, that while the GOP disingenuously plays on the social issues and morality of the Christian right to build support, get elected, and maintain power, Republican politicians once in office do not focus on these social issues but instead work aggressively in "padding the pockets" of the wealthy and business interests.

His powerfully worded exposé dismantles each tenet of the Republican Party systematically, addressing each reason why voters follow and support the party and why he finds this choice to be flawed - even self-destructive - behavior by middle class Christians. He exposes the fact that the GOP uses social issues to get elected, then ignores these issues once in office, instead promoting policies which harm the very middle class voters who elect them, only to favor the wealthy and corporations.

Burgin writes from the standpoint of a formerly ardent Republican who became disenchanted with the party over time. His aim in writing is to " build a construct for understanding the purposeful divisiveness of our political discourse--a divisiveness that stimulates the fears and biases of the GOP voter base, distracted by the business of our daily lives," attacking the ideology and what he sees as threats to "America's national health," calling the belief-based system of the politicians "willful manipulation" that is exploitative of voters who are "too busy working to notice the lies," encouraging them to vote based on their social issues and against their own financial self-interest.
Burgin uses statistical analysis, graphs, and speaks directly to the reader to add credence to his assertions, as he strips away every facet of the Republican economic belief system and points out the hypocrisy of the manipulative electoral strategies.

A Letter to US Middle-Class Christians is a socially relevant book as our nation faces another election, exploring issues from Obamacare and the "birther" movement to the fear that Liberals "are socialists and don't believe in a free market economy." His discourse is powerful, chronicling the disillusionment that he has found in his former allegiance to the Republican Party, and what he has found to be the basis of the precepts that he once believed in.

A Letter to US Middle-Class Christians raises controversial questions and is a convincing case against the apparent motives of the political right, explaining the how and why of what we believe, and more importantly, what lies beneath--with the power to provoke thought by writing from a reflective standpoint rather than a political rant.

Eye-Opener! 15. März 2011

This simple read is an excellent overview of the disinegenuous strategies of the GOP for the last 30 years to get votes based on first racism, the so-called Southern Strategy, then by pandering to the religious right. Hopefully it will open your eyes too to the fact that you are being manipulated and used by the GOP to make rich people richer, and corporations richer. And worst of all, to realize they are taking this money from you...the people who elected them to office based on the false hope that they would support your religious-based social agenda. Wo!

Give someone a job? A Paying job? This class warfare is so damn childish! Redistribution is Communist. If someone earns it, it's their to keep and decide what THEY want to do with it! How much does Slick Willy and Hitlery, and Joe Bite-me give away? How much does our Spectator in Chief give of his own money? How much money has he ripped of the govt, tax payers and the rest of us? Grow up, be thankful for what you have, and if you aren't happy with your own life, then work on it and do something about your life, because no one else will. Volunteer at church, or the Red Cross, stop your damn whining and crying, be an adult. If you aren't happy, go to school, do something useful, and stay out of other people's lives. You don't control ANYONE but your selves.STF out of my business.
