Concise and comprehensive 10. Oktober 2011
Von A. Archer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
I have gotten a lot out of this book.
If you are interested in the ways that our emotions affect our leadership style, than this is the book for you. It's an easy to understand, concise and engaging explanation of the concepts of emotional intelligence. This collection of Dr. Goleman's writing on leadership clearly makes the case that the skills thought of as emotional intelligence are key to being effective and getting the best results - no matter what your position. It's size (113 pages) makes it a good book for someone who doesn't want to spend the time teasing the pieces out of the original books - the choice leadership parts are here bundled into one quick read. There are even 2 articles from The Harvard Business Review as well as chapters from 4 of Dr. Goleman's books.
I highly recommend this book if you are interested in improving your leadership style.

Engaging and insightful 19. November 2011
Von A. Weil - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
This book has lots of fascinating information about emotions in the workplace. It is presented in a very accessible style that kept my interest consistently with plenty of new scientific evidence to support the theories. I particularly like the 'managing with heart' section that includes topics such as: teamwork; decreased productivity; cost to bottom line; cost effectiveness of emotional intelligence; the benefits of being emotionally competent versus the consequences of stress and emotional obliviousness; & how to criticize effectively. My favorite thing I learned? Laughter & smiles are the most contagious emotion, much more so than depression. I highly recommend this book if you want to create a better workplace!
