Gebrauchsspuren am Einband. Mittlere Kratzer auf dem Cover. Ecken teilweise eingedrückt. Seiten innen in top Zustand.

Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf

Aller erste Sahne.

5.0 von 5 Sternen If you can only afford one book, this is it. 6. Februar 2011
Von Bryan Huang - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
This book is legendary. In fact, it should really, really, be digitised and put on the International Space Station just in case some unforeseen circumstance wipes out all the copies of it on Earth.

L.M.S. is not your typical artbook. It's basically the 'scrapbook' of the protagonist, the Paladin Gabriel, with notes/"official" information/newspaper reports about some of the main characters you'll see in the world of L.M.S. Once you start flipping through it, you'll feel the effort/love/sweat and megatons of blood Dan poured into this book. You won't want to put it down.

The art is top class. If you're not convinced, go take a look at Dan's portfolio site danluvisiart[dot]com or his deviantart page adonihs[dot]deviantart[dot]com
It's printed on massive, massive pages with really good colours. The book itself feels like it could take a bullet for you.

But that's not all. L.M.S. is not just an artbook, as I mentioned earlier. It's not just the art, the layout and the story deserve mention too. You'll find Dan's art gracing the pages in all manners and forms, whether it'd be an advertisement, movie trailer or even a little toy version of the characters. You'll find the details about weapons used by the characters, their backstories, score cards which has the protagonist giving them a stat score etc.

If you're more familiar with Dan's work, you'll find little easter eggs and nods to the people in his life, which really sets this apart. Dan even included a list of questions fielded by his own fans and a whole list of names to thank all the people who have been supporting his work, which is a very nice touch.

It stands up there with some of the best books I've seen in a while. There's the correct balance of art and text, and the story laid out for you in this book just makes you want to read the rest of it as soon as possible.

So art, checked. Story, checked. Layout, checked. Printing, checked. I think that makes a pretty good book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Sheer beauty 11. Februar 2011

Even if you haven't followed Dan's art in the past, there is something about his work that just catches your eye and doesn't let go. All of his characters have this innate personality that shines through on every page. Every detail is fascinating and has a story to tell. From a Legend of Zelda keychain to skittles pouring through the hole in a pouch. You could spend hours digesting a single page. And the realism is astounding. Sure, you can tell that the art is digital and the pictures aren't photographs. But the people are real. They have histories and motives. And when they do what they do, they look good doin it.

4.0 von 5 Sternen A Visionary Tour de Force 31. August 2011
Von Rabbit - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf
Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter is a tour de force of outstanding artwork as well as a virtual exploration of a time both familiar yet unique in itself. While LMS revolves mostly around the protagonist, Gabriel who acts as a guide/ commentator of all sorts in this book, there are many other characters who are each given their own profiles detailing their lives and their relevance to a story yet to come.

-Portraits of each character are rendered extremely hyper-realistically. The scrapbook layout fits perfectly well to help the readers drink in all the little details without getting overwhelmed. Artists will definitely have kick out of this!
-Even though it's a good 240 pages, the reader will not be bored by the witty commentary of each character introduced and the rich history of this world.
-The details paid attention in both creating the characters as well as the world they live in are stunning. From the bizarre to the fantastic, the creativity invested in these characters is extremely evident from, not just the artwork, but also from their background stories and Gabriel's commentary on them. I absolutely loved this distinctive and beautiful vision of a futuristic world

- Dan tries to flesh out each character in their way but sometimes it feels very clichéd with some of them (tragic past, abusive childhood, etc). Even though no two characters are the same, it still feels as though their stories have been told before and is all too familiar. But this is only with some characters, not all of course.
-Since this is only a guidebook of all, the story is only bare bones and so the writing, at times, seem very juvenile and underdeveloped. The tone, though supposed to be snarky and sarcastic, tends to sound immature at times. I'm probably being too nitpicky but it would be nice to know that there is some purpose to the protagonist aside from simply getting revenge on the people who framed him for crimes he didn't commit.
- It's very BIG (coffee table book sized) and so it may be a bit of a hassle for some. Though this is only a minor complaint, the size is WORTH containing the epic quality of its contents.

Overall, I can't say the Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter is perfect and will astound everyone who comes within a four feet of it. But, it is definitely worth reading if you want to take a dive into the world of a dark but beautiful future.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Worth every penny. 5. Februar 2011
Von R. Southen - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
The amount of artwork and content in this book is staggering. 230 pages of original concepts and designs, and an awesome story to boot, this is the type of book that would typically cost $60+.

There's nothing quite like it out there, the format is original and interesting, and the book is absolutely massive. A good thing in the case of art books. Even better, it's being developed into a movie by Paramount, so all the more reason to get your hands on it and be in the know before everyone else is talking about it.

You won't regret it.

Just received my copy today!

This thing is HUGE! I love it!

I've only read about 30 pages and leafed through the rest so far, but the art and detail is stunning.

If you buy one book for the rest of this year, this is it!

Buy it and you will not be disappointed!
