Kurzbeschreibung

The horrifying, suspenseful and incredibly popular first book of the LZR-1143 series: a post-apocalyptic, action-packed zombie collection!

Book One: LZR-1143: Infection
Book Two: LZR-1143: Evolution
Book Three: LZR-1143: Redemption

He used to be someone. He used to be in pictures.

Until he was convicted of murdering his wife and condemned to a life sentence in a psychiatric prison, Mike McKnight was a movie star. A real, live action hero. But the mysterious circumstances surrounding his beloved wife's death pointed a damning finger at just one person: him. He was tried by a world that hated him. He was convicted by a jury who never doubted his guilt. He was discarded and forgotten, locked away by a society that moved on.

At least until the zombies showed up.

From a drugged stupor, he emerges into a world that has crumbled and where mankind is on the verge of elimination. He is suddenly thrust into a nightmare of epic proportions when the dead rise as a brutal and terrifying plague on the world of the living. In a landscape littered with post-apocalyptic terrors, Mike and a handful of survivors battle humans and zombies alike, fleeing headlong through danger and despair.

Over the hellscape of a dying city, to the doubtful retreat of the mountainous countryside, Mike fights to stay alive in a world of the dead, recover his memories, and retrieve a cure to the most threatening plague the world has ever known.

4.0 von 5 Sternen 5-Star Zombie Story, 1-Star Ending 27. Oktober 2010
Von T. Adams - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
First I want to say that I highly recommend this book to zombie fans. It's a fast-paced, well-written page-turner. While it doesn't really break any new ground, it's a solid contribution to the genre that zed fans will appreciate. The main characters -- especially the lead -- actually have memorable personalities, and the setting at the beginning of the book is an interesting way to kick off the story. Bravo on both counts.

The concept is solid, the fight scenes are very descriptive without being overdone, and the author kept overt and gratuitous references to specific weapons noticeably absent which was appreciated by this reviewer.

The only drawback, besides a few minor grammar errors, was an ending that can only be described as cliche beyond belief. I was stunned that such an abrupt and poor excuse for a conclusion had been attached to an otherwise noteworthy novel. I didn't see it coming, but surprises like this you can keep. I don't want to put forth any spoilers, but suffice it to say the entire story gets flipped on its head on the last page or two. It was a letdown.

With that said, I still have to admit that the ride was worth it and I'm glad I read it. This is my first novel by this author, and I'm happy I found this book with the hope that others by him will be just as good... and with better endings.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Just Didn't Grab Me 12. Juni 2012
Von Book Lover - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

**SPOILERS IN HERE**

I read a lot of zombie fiction, and there is a lot of bad stuff out there. Granted, this is far better than a lot of what I have read, but for some reason, I just couldn't connect with the main character. He seemed too unreal, with his whole movie star background. And having us constantly wait to find out what his famous line in his movie was is ridiculous. I haven't finished the book yet, have about thirty pages left, so I can't be sure the author ever does tell us what the dumb line is, but I imagine it'll be worked into the ending somehow.

All in all, I found this book to be too hard to believe. Yes, zombies are unreal in their own right, but this book just seemed to make it too easy for the main character. Stuck on a roof? Presto, helicopter will save you. Feeling bad about abandoning the ship? Don't feel bad, it ends up filled with zombies anyway so you made the right choice. Zombie plague is wiping out the country and who can save it? Our main man, who happens to have the inside scoop because of his wife, the scientist. Seriously, how many action movie heroes are married to genius scientists? It's just so far fetched. Oh, and one of your people gets bit on the arm? Let's chop it off with an ax, and less than an hour later the girl with the amputated arm is up and ready to rejoin the fight. It seems like Stumpy, I mean Sam, would be feeling too tired from all the blood loss to get up and join the team on a mile long walking expedition, but nope, she's fine.

Finally, the editing errors in this book grated on me. There weren't a lot, but the ones that were present were annoying as heck. Let me just say that I will feel no remorse as I "wave" good-bye to this book but I warn you, you might want to "waive" your right to read it.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great Book 28. September 2010
Von A McSitter - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I thought this was a fantastic book that kept me engaged and turning the page. I had a hard time putting it down because I just could not wait to find out what would happen next. It was very well written and just a great mystery/action book -- even if you aren't into zombie novels, you will like this one!

3.0 von 5 Sternen Creative perspective, but laced with cliche 10. Juli 2012
Von D. Smith - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Having the main character wake up in an insane asylum certainly offers a differnt perspective, especially when he constantly questions whether the zombies are real or in his mind. However, that creativity becomes overshadowed by the cliches found in many other zombie novels: the amazing roof rescue, the government conspiracy, and - above all - the crazy Christian. Maybe the fact that so many zombie novelists can't be bothered to edit out the grammatical errors - another zombie cliche - is what made a decent Christian scientist go crazy in the first place! I will read the next book because the main character is so much fun, but I hope he adds some details we haven't already seen too many times.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Better than expected 24. Mai 2011
Von M. McGinty - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I've been on a zombie apocalypse kick for awhile so thought I'd give this one a chance. I'm glad I did. Genuine moments of creepiness and tension, with plenty of gore to go around. I subtracted one star for the ambiguous ending [it was actually quite frustrating]. I also subtracted one star for all the distracting typos, of which there were lots. I hope the author starts proofreading better, and learns the difference between its and it's.

Once the rewards of compliance disappearonce self-interest no longer dictates civility, selflessness, or compassion, we see the true nature of the human being. At once selfish and brutal, they possess in the same shell a phenomenal capacity for love and sacrifice, a paradox that is only the more tragic for its singular revelation in times of abject misery, sorrow and terror. "e;
