Known in her native Australia even before Neighbours, she was to become an idol to millions around the globe following her role as Charlene. Her on screen relationship with Jason Donovan was to lead to a sizzling off screen romance too but only after months of are they arent they? press teasing. Her rise from soap star to pop diva was meteoric, swapping her greasy overalls as Charlene for glittery hot pants with the minimum of effort.
Kylie: Naked shows how her well-publicised relationship with fellow aussie Michael Hutchence coincided with a move to reinvent herself, leaving behind her girl next door image to appeal to a more adult audience. She continued to reinvent herself throughout the Nineties, ending the decade as she started it: at the top of the charts. Spinning around was the summer anthem of 2000 and her album Light Years was also a chart-topper. The duet with Robbie Williams, and suggestions that the two were a couple, sparked even more publicity making Kylie the disco queen of the year. One of Kylies most successful years was to lead to an even bigger success with Kylie: Fever. The single Cant Get You Out of My Head made it to number one in every single Western European country except from Finland, where it was number two, selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide and going double platinum in the UK. Kylie is no longer just a gay icon; she is simply an icon. But who is the person behind this well publicised image Kylies managers have created? What is the truth behind all Kylies ambiguous answers?
Kylie: Naked is the story of a girl who left her home, her family, and the Australian sun to become a global megastar. The biography identifies the key turning points in her life and career from Neighbours to the Stock, Aitken and Waterman days to her nomination for a total of four Brit Awards in 2002. A key theme running throughout this important biography is Kylies determination to establish and re-establish herself as a credible artist and her ability to out-live and out-sell her rivals, while remaining a private person full of dreams and plans. -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

KYLIE NAKED is nothing but fluff. What else do you expect from someone who writes for the SUN? The basis of my opinion stems from the fact that Vincent Lovegrove's book BURN is a major source in the writing of this pulp fiction. For those who are unaware, BURN by Vincent Lovegrove had its rights pulled by its publishers; the author's sources were not reliable, his stories contrived. Lovegrove thanks people who have been dead for years/whom he has never met in his epilogue. BURN is one of several biographies about the late lead singer of INXS, Michael Hutchence.
Hutchence was one of the men in Minogue's life; their affairs highly publicized (not much in the U.S. as we are in our own little bubble). Minogue has credited Hutchence posthumously for being the single most important man in her life, introducing to her to a world from which she was sheltered, changing her perspective and image, in turn, making her the Kylie the world has come to know.
If a book's publisher has pulled its rights and KYLIE NAKED cites it as a source, (and often may I add; about 2-3 chapters mention Hutchence alone), then what is to make this book any more legitimate?
