Kurzbeschreibung

Two bestselling Kindle novels together in one omnibus:

DARK HORSE
When high school student Derrick Booker, the only black student at a posh Orange County high school, is accused of killing his white girlfriend, ex-college football hero and detective Jim Knighthorse is hired to dig a little deeper into the murder. It doesn't take long for Knighthorse to realize that not all is as it seems at tranquil Huntington High, from a band director who preys on the innocent to a vice-principal with a secret agenda of her own. Not to mention someone's hired a professional killer to keep Knighthorse permanently off the case. As the investigation continues, Knighthorse's personal life is shattered by the discovery of new evidence relating to his mother's unsolved murder, a murder dating back twenty years. Reeling from the discovery, a determined Jim Knighthorse sets out to bring two killers to justice.

THE MUMMY CASE
Private investigator Jim Knighthorse takes on a very, very cold case. When historian Willie Clarke dies of mysteriously of dehydration in the California deserts, ex-football hero Jim Knighthorse is hired to dig a little deeper—and discovers a shocking connection to one of the West's oldest mysteries. Over a hundred years ago, an unnamed cowboy was murdered in the California desert and, due to freak weather conditions, would become mummified within twenty-four hours. Now known to the world as Sylvester the Mummy and displayed in a creepy curiosity shop, Sylvester and historian Willie Clarke will be forever linked in mystery. That is, unless private investigator Jim Knighthorse can survive long enough to untangle one of the West's greatest unsolved murders.

**Acclaim for the Novels of J.R. Rain**

"Gripping, adventurous, and romantic—J.R. Rain's The Lost Ark is a breakneck thriller that traces the thread of history from Biblical stories to current-day headlines. Be prepared to lose sleep!"
—JAMES ROLLINS, international bestselling author of Altar of Eden and The Doomsday Key

"I enjoyed this immensely. The protagonist, Samantha Moon, is a female vampire with a husband and children. Those predate her condition; six years ago she was attacked by a vampire and rendered into one. Now she's trying to carry on with family and private eye business, and she's a feisty, skilled person, so is doing mostly okay. It is not a horror story; she buys animal blood to eat and doesn't generally prey on humans. But her husband has an increasing problem with her coldness—not of spirit, but of body. 'You sicken me and scare the hell out of me,' he tells her. 'And when I touch you it's all I can do to not gag.' She replies, 'Words every wife wants to hear.' I love this! What makes it special are her character and nature."
—PIERS ANTHONY, New York Times bestselling author of A Spell for Chameleon and On A Pale Horse

"Dark Horse is one of the best books I've read in a long time! A great classic detective story with a modern twist. Unique and interesting characters (I think I'm half in love with Jim Knighthorse now!), a great plot that kept me guessing until the end, and some of the funniest lines I've read anywhere."
—GEMMA HALLIDAY, author of Deadly Cool and Play Dead

"Impossible to put down. J.R. Rain's Moon Dance is a fabulous urban fantasy."
—APRIL VINE, author of The Midnight Rose and Blindfolded by Lust

"Moon Dance is absolutely brilliant!"
—LISA TENZIN-DOLMA, author of Understanding the Planetary Myths and The Dolphin Experience

"Moon Dance is a must read. If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, be prepared to love J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon, vampire private investigator."
—EVE PALUDAN, author of Letters from David

5.0 von 5 Sternen Knighthorse a Sensitive as well as Tough and wise investigator. 1. April 2010
Von Julie Belmont - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Just finished reading Knighthorse by J.R. Rain couldn't wait to write the praise that I felt. This book is more then a detective murder mystery it contains real touches of humanness along with an Spiritual air that is very captivating. J. R. Rain comes across in this book as a very relaxed writer, one that brings you along the story with the comfort of a cup of tea on a rainy night. He merges his wit with true detective know how and decorum to bring the reality of a real case with the fantasy interlace of a novel. His characters come to life as you stand behind their lives involving the reader with true emotion. The concept of bringing Jack (God) into the story gives an unexpected added twist that really makes the reader wonder about the evidence of All that Is without being preachy yet giving the book a welcome spiritual or slightly paranormal insight. I highly recommend this book, it is an easy read and a must for the mystery novel aficionado.

2.0 von 5 Sternen did i read the same books?! 16. Januar 2012
Von mom of three - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I am seriously wondering if I read the same books as everyone else. I began reading with high hopes for two great thrillers based on other reviews, but I was sorely disappointed. First of all, the sentence structure was choppy, with many sounding as of they were written by my eight year old. Secondly, in an ill-conceived effort at humor, the protagonist comes off like a self-righteous jerk--and a sexist one at that. Third, there were so many spelling and grammatical errors in the kindle edition ("accept" instead of "except"--twice, by the way...) that I wanted to take a red pen and edit the book myself! Both books made for an interesting afternoon read, but the second book's big "shocker" I had pegged as soon as the character was introduced! Overall, I was not impressed, but I will read the third book just to see where the story goes.

Written much like the Sam Spade genre but with very up-to-date character development. Very intertaining and hope to see more from this author with this character in future books. If you love the free spirited and entertaining character as the lead....this is your book. The plots are believable and take you on an enjoyable read throughout. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books from this author, especially this character. The author does have some other books that warrant a read as well.
