Chuck Klosterman knows definitely a lot about music. Killig yourself to live is kind of interesting to read from a cultural perspective but it gets a little boring when he talks about his relationships. The blurb promises that his book is about a journey through the States on which the author analyses the question of why musicians get more popular after death than during their lifetime. Well, he does talk about that a little bit - at the end - but mainly he describes American culture and some politic aspects. I was a little disappointed because I wanted to read about rock stars and their music and not so much about Chuck Klosterman's childhood and affairs.
However, he writes about Sid Vicious, Lynyrd Skynyrd, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Kurt Cobain and a some others very briefly (Elvis, Falco etc.)
Some parts are really fun to read and interesting to think about but in all in all it reads like a diary of a music freak.
