As an adoptive mother of an African American daughter I have always been relying on others to help manage my 3year old daughter's hair. I envied friends of color who labored for hours doing the hair thing with their daughters. Pamela Ferrell's book is enlightening, and educational. I am now able to have that special time with my daughter, and produce a well-groomed ethnic hairstyle she and I can be proud of. I've heard it said that,"No one can ruin a black child's hair like a white woman." Well, this is one mother who wants her child to be proud of her ethnic heritage and of her mother. So I say Thank you Pamela Ferrell.

This book really changed our life. My husband is black, I'm white - and no (black) mother in law or sister in law around to show me how to deal with the wonderfully "difficult" hair of our six year old daughter! Just a pitty I havn't discovered this book earlier. It might have saved us from a lot of "fighting" about our daughters hair treatment.
Our two daughters (4 and 6) love to look at the pictures in the book. We all laughed about the stories of others going through "hair catastrophes". And we now try a new style every week end.
Especially the step by step washing and brushing instructions have simply changed our life: we enjoy this special time - and she simply looks and feels great afterwards!

I liked the pictures in this book because it gave me different hair styles to consider. I also liked the info. on hair care (trimming, washing, etc). But, I think the hairstyles should of been explained in more detail. For a person who's not familiar with different hair textures it's diffcult to understand (my daughter is biracial).
