This is a biography of a lady so unique that her story had to be told, and it is told well. It is somewhat limited by the limited focus of the heroine, and there is not enough about Kathmandu, or base camps, for example, but a book that had to be written, and if Everest fascinates you, has to be read

This book was extremely interesting because it mixed history and hiking into a biography of a non hiker. Ms. Hawley had the most interesting life. To do all this in a time when women rarely traveled alone, is amazing to me.

In my opinion bernadette mcdonald is the finest mountainerring author out there. She holds your attention from the start of every book.Her research shows in her writing.Very enjoyable.
