Located in Gifu, sits a building that constitutes the first material expression of Kazuyo Sejima's studies on metropolitan housing. This investigation proceeded from the conclusion that not all subsidized housing needs to be the same. Starting from a generic public housing program, Sejima's housing block in Gifu departs from convention and occupies the conceptual and physical space created between oppositional design concerns: where a strictly modulated structure confronts a random arrangement of different spaces; between the length of the building and the reduction of its built depth; between inhabitable space and the surrounding landscape; between the individual and the family unit.

Synopsis
The building that is the subject of this illustrated text constitutes the first material expression of Kazuyo Sejima's studies on metropolitan housing, studies which proceed from the idea that not all subsidized housing is the same. Starting from a standard public apartment programme, the confrontation between a strictly modulated structure and a random disposition of the different rooms, or between the length of the building and the reduction of its built depth, also elicits a confrontation between habitable space and the surrounding landscape, and between the individual and the family unit. This title consists of two volumes: one explains the building and the other is a little book containing the metropolitan housing studies by Kazuyo Sejima. A Spanish language version of this title is also available, ISBN 84-89698-99-6.

Esta en japones y en ingles, lleva en el interior planos detallados y muchas fotografias. Este libro ademas viene con otro mini librito donde aparecen otros proyectos de sejima realacionados con vivienda social. Una muy buena compra.
