Awesome but incomplete 1. Juni 2011

When i read all review about this book, i was so excited! and ordered book with out any delay....now i have read half of this book and realized this book is incomplete, u can use this book as last 2-3 day high yield review but nothing more then that. I was planning to do this book along with uworld but unfortunately i had to add 1 more book in my plan!

pros- high yield material in best format possible.
cons- lack many many high yield topics :( if it was a complete book covering all topics , it would have been best book for CK in market!

It is ok (barely). 25. Januar 2011

I do not know why people like this book that much and they wanted to use the author name in their comments. I bought this book because of the comments. I thought finally I found the book for step 2 CK which covers all topic and it is all I need. However After I read some chapters of the book , I understood It is not the book I am looking for. It is not horrible. However I can not say that it is superior to FA. It is just OK. I liked rheumatology section however infection, pulmonology and endocrinology were bad, cardio and neurology were OK. FA also has some gap( such as drug side effects). Certainly, UW is superior to them.
Overall I would say UW>>>FA>this book.
I hope It helps.
Do not listen the comments which contain "thanks Dr.. "
Good luck every one!

Beware of comments... 10. Januar 2014

I was a medical student in New York and there were representatives from Kaplan telling students to write a good review on amazon or a nice comment on Conrad Fischer's youtube page in exchange for Kaplan course discounts/free Kaplan books. I think Conrad Fischer's videos are really, really, really good. He certainly has a way of drilling information verbally into his students' heads and he has a passion for it. I don't think this book, however, is all that great. I also don't like how he senselessly plugs his non-USMLE books. It kind of lacks class to have your Kaplan minions bribe stressed out and vulnerable medical students.

Better than First Aid or Step Up 24. August 2012
Von tbro4033 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I'm a 4th year med student, studying for CK. I've went through Step Up to Step 2, the new (8th edition) of First Aid, and this book here.

Short and Sweet: This is the best book for CK studying in my opinion. Buy it. Use it. Score high.

Long version: This book does an outstanding job of pointing out high yield information; that which is most frequently tested on the CK exams. One of it's strongest points is pointing out both the best initial and most effective/definitive diagnostic test and treatment option for each disease. There are plenty of tables if that's your style of learning. It's written in big, spaced out text, and in a language that any student can easily understand. Dr. Fischer does a great job keeping in contact with students after they have taken the CK exams and makes changes/updates to this book as students make recommendations to him. As of now, the main gripe in my opinion is the Pediatric section, which misses out on quite a few important CK topics. That's the only thing holding it back from 5 stars in my opinion. But other than that, it appears to be the best CK study book in my mind. Step Up to Step 2 is good if you plan on using the DIT videos (since that's what it uses for CK), but other than that, I think it is the weakest of the 3 I've read. The new (8th edition) of First Aid is a quality choice. It does a better job than Master the Boards at hitting all the topics in U World. However, it can be a little dense, and a boring read at times. I would put it a close 2nd behind Master the Boards.

In summary: Definitely buy this book. At the very least, use it as the last minute review 1-2 weeks before CK. It drives home many high yield points.

Best book out there, says more about the other books than it does for MTB 3. April 2012
Von SMB - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
MTB is definitely, by far the best book available for Step 2 CK. However, there are tremendous areas that need improvement.

Pros: Succinct, very EASY to read, large margins to write in, great for helping you map out testing and treatment protocol/guidelines.

Cons: could expand on some subjects, such as Pediatrics, and ObGyn. Reference Tables for drugs etc.. Like in Step up To Step 2 would be very helpful

I would also suggest introducing bullet points to the current format to make the hierarchy of the text more obvious. Best Advice would be to use this as your primary text, and supplement with your 'mini' text of choice, whether it be Boards&Wards or Secrets, or whatever.
