Kurzbeschreibung

In How to Break 70, bestselling author Andy Chao takes a look at what it takes to Break 70. You'll find what he calls the 4 Keys to Breaking 70 and will go into detail on what you need to do in terms of driving, greens in regulation, putting, and scrambling to actually give yourself a reasonable chance of breaking 70. You will also be among the first to learn about the Chao Driving Frontier which is a new and innovative way to look at driving the golf ball and its relationship to scoring.

Andy Chao is a great person to take you through this process as quickly and efficiently as possible. He is both accomplished in golf as well as business. As a junior he played competitive golf in tournaments with players such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Dave Stockton. Though he "retired" from competitive golf, he still managed to be Captain of the Harvard Golf Team. Business-wise, he has an MBA from The Wharton School, and as can be seen from the reviews on his previous books, is quite effective at helping golfers break through scoring barriers.

3.0 von 5 Sternen College Golfer review 19. Februar 2014
Von Keith Paul Haines - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I am a division I golfer who is always looking for different golf books to improve. Initially I thought this book would be full of things I already knew, however it provides clear statistics to structure practice sessions. The writing style is a bit dry and heavy on facts. Personally I would use the book for the statistical information. If you cannot hit 50% of your fairways, 13 GIRs in regulation, and make 66% of your putts within ten feet you are not going to break 70.

This is the first book of his that I have read and have found it to be very redundant. It does not contain any unique insights or methodologies to help you break through the last plateau in golf.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The mindset of a better player! 19. Januar 2014
Von Scott Zimmerman - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
While breaking 70 is not even a goal for me, the reason I was most interested in this book was understanding the mindset for attacking not only my improvement efforts, but also the golf course in order to make low scores possible. This book unquestionably delivered in that regard and I know have a great roadmap for attacking the weak points in my game.

it's more of a primer than a book, but it's definitely worth the price and the time. most of us reading this book (presumably players who have shot in the mid 70's or lower) already know what he's telling us, but he's 'formalizing" it and organizing it for us. one thing i really like is that he starts with driving. those of us who have shot in the 70s know that the short game, despite what we always read and hear, isn't always the key to going lower. he puts some real solid numbers on distance and accuracy for your tee shots that are the truth (can you hit your drive 220 and still par? yes. can you do it for 14 holes? no.) the reality is if you can't get your driver out 250 all the time, you have virtually zero chance at shooting in the 60s. he's the first author i've ever heard that has come out and said that. maybe it's because a lot of golfers might quit if they realize that they have zero change at shooting par given their true driving distances and accuracy off the tee (the average 10 handicap drives it 220 -- not carry, total distance). it's a tough pill to swallow ... about the size of a golf ball.

it's kind of a funny book when you think about it. there is a reason you see tips on how to break 100, 90 and 80 in golf magazines, but you never see 70. it's like 'how to become a billionaire" instead of millionaire. the percentage of golfers who legitimately break 70 on a reasonably difficult course can't be more than 100th of a percentage, if that. so, it goes without saying that you have to be a really, really good player to even be sniffing the idea of shooting in the 60s. the author broke par when he was 15 and started playing when he was 5 and was an elite amateur and captain of the harvard golf team ... and he doesn't even shoot in the 60s very often.

for me, the information he's given me will enable me to look at where i'm at and really see where i'm weak. am i hitting enough greens in reg? am i making enough 4, 5, 5, 7 footers? am i getting it up and down a majority of the time? am i hitting enough fairways far enough out?

good luck!

There are thousands of "How to..." books on the market; some very technical with the latest swing ideas and others a different version of an earlier published work. However, this one is by far one of the better ones on the market. The author does a fantastic job laying out the "recipe for success" by breaking down the game to its simplest form. The author supports his recommendations with facts and does not get technical with his findings. Simple book, quick read, and encouraging to everyone out there willing to put forth a little effort to reach their next scoring goal.
