Buchrückseite

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl's rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn't want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet's dark, haunted eyes. She's afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can't resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he's tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

Don't miss the latest bad boy in Jay Crownover's unforgettable New Adult series.

Jay Crownover created with „Jet“ a God of rock’n'roll and for damn sure, I am a believer.

Having read and loved the previous book in the Marked Men series called „Rule“ I was excited to get my hand on the book that would revolve around Jet and Ayden. I had high expectations for Jay and sure as hell she did not disappoint.

Jet is beyond any doubt a swoon-worthy male book character. I mean damn, what is there not to like: He is a singer in a heavy metal band, is covered in tattoos, wears pants that leave nothing to imagination, is pierced in places that will make you blush and is full of fire, passion and anger. He is so hot he will make you rawr. At the same time he is sweet, thoughtful and loves with all his heart and soul. He wants to protect the people he cares about and this regardless of the consequences this might bring for him.

Ayden is such a wonderful counterpart to him. Controlled, ambitious, a good girl next door. But she wasn’t always like that and the parts of her that she tries to suppress want to break free and make her run into Jet’s arms. She has a troubled past and demons that haunt her and make her unsure what her next step should be. She tries so hard to be better. But what is really better? Her character has many layers that add to the depth of Ayden’s personality. She is smart, she is loyal, loving and caring and she has the looks of a model. She is a female character you can’t help but like. She isn’t whiney, she isn’t weak and she damn sure isn’t a bubblehead.

The chemistry that Jay Crownover created between Jet and Ayden will make you laugh with them, love with them and suffer with them. There is a realism to their relationship that helps the reader connect to their feelings for each other. It’s not a fairytale.

Absolut lesenswert.

That difficult second book... 29. Mai 2013
Von Laura - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This author had great success with Rule..for all it's faults when it was first released, it was still a hit and she was given a deserved publishing deal. I loved Rule and was impressed that it was a debut novel. I liked the authors writing style.

I was eagerly awaiting Jet. I expect the author is nervous as to how readers will take to her second book. I will be honest and say I didn't love it as much as Rule, but I did like it.

We met Jet and Ayden in Rule. There was an obvious attraction but Jet believes Ayden to be a good girl so when she makes a pass at him, he turns her down. This book starts a year later. They have developed a friendship and for the last three months Jet has been sharing a house with Ayden and her friend Cora. Jet has a succession of one night stands which Ayden and Cora score out of 10! Ayden is dating Adam. He does nothing for her but she imagines he is the type of guy she should date although none of her friends agree especially Jet!

Ayden had a rough childhood in Kentucky. This involved her brother who shows up later in this story. When a teacher there took her under his wing and persuaded her to study, she made the decision to get away from the 'Ayden in Kentucky' and when she moves to College in Denver, she meets Shaw (heroine from Rule) and realises she wants to be like her so she changes herself and 'Ayden in Denver' is created. It is this Ayden that Jet met and decided that she was too good for him. Jet has his own family troubles involving his parents. Jet is the lead singer in a heavy metal band. Even though they could probably get a Recording Contract, that's not what Jet wants from his love of music. He writes and produces for other bands and has his own Recording Studio.

The pacing of the story was a bit off. The beginning needed more. I would have preferred if the book hadn't jumped forward a year from the prologue and that we got to read about Ayden and Jet's friendship and the sexual tension between them when he moved in with Ayden. The middle sort of went nowhere and fizzled out, yes they get together but it's not a definite relationship. For me, there wasn't enough dialogue between Ayden and Jet. Yes they had chemistry and there are some sex scenes, but they didn't communicate very well and were each keeping things from each other which leads to problems so when the inevitable 'break up' occurred, it was a bit flat and the dialogue only took up one page! I wanted more angst. Then towards the end of the book a lot happens but some of it could have done with happening in the middle of the book in my opinion.

Throughout the book it was obvious Jet is in love with Ayden. The author writes of tattooed, pierced men but they are sensitive souls. We have Jet's male friends offering him heartfelt advice about his love life. At times, the men in the book come across more girlie than Ayden, Shaw and Cora! I also wasn't keen on the fact Ayden told Shaw all about her life back in Kentucky before she told Jet. When she does finally confess all to Jet near the end of the book we get a lot of telling at this part rather than showing. I would have liked to read of his reactions.

Although I have mentioned a lot of negatives, I recommend this story. The author is refreshing in that she doesn't use a lot of foul language in her books. The sex scenes are not crude or erotic but still well written, the characters are well rounded and she writes the male POV well. This book certainly wasn't perfect but I do like the authors writing style and as I noted in the first book, it is obvious she has great potential and that was proven by her gaining a publishing deal. I have a soft spot for both Rule and Jet but I probably prefer Shaw to Ayden. We get to see more of Rule and Shaw in this book and how their relationship is progressing and we get to meet some new characters and my guess is some of them will be getting their own book and I look forward to reading them.

The next book will feature Rome (Rule's Brother) and Cora. I am hoping the author will write Rome as more alpha male rather than a sensitive guy. Cora is a great character, I can't wait to read more about her and I am hoping these two are given some angst and that their story has more depth as they are both older characters than the ones that have featured so far.

3 FRUSTRATING Stars!!! 2. September 2013
Von Kristen Reviews - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

3 FRUSTRATING Stars!

5 Stars for Jet. I loved him!
1 Star for Ayden. She drove me nuts!
Equals 3 overall Stars!

OH BOY! Where to start with this very frustrating story. To say I struggled to keep my temper under control while reading this book is an understatement! I spent most of the story feeling the need to completely and utterly smack the heroine. I guess after that statement it's pretty obvious WHO became my main issue throughout this book...that's right...it was the heroine, Ayden.

I really liked the first book in this series, Rule and had high hopes that Jet would be just as good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and the heroine, Ayden, was mostly to blame. I knew before starting this story that many readers had issues with her character, but I figured she couldn't be THAT bad. Oh, how wrong I was! She was that bad and more! I found her nearly impossible to like. Up until the last 10% of story, she was self-centered, self-serving, and self-pitying. Basically, the girl took self wallowing to a whole new level. Simply put, Ayden and her ridiculous sub-plot ruined a great portion of this book for me. By the time she finally came around and truly shined as a character, it was a simple case of too little, too late.

That said, I absolutely adored and loved everything about Jet. He was sexy, charismatic, and delicious. I loved him every bit as much as Rule. Unfortunately, he wasn't enough to fully save this book for me. Still, the ending was sweet and left me with a HUGE smile on my face. I'm very excited for Rome's book. I have high hopes for that one! Fingers crossed.

Oh how I wanted to love this book... 4. Juni 2013

I loved rule. I loved Shaw. I kept skimming through the paragraphs hoping to hear more of their story. Jet was a little too sensitive for me I like my bad boy to be a real bad boy that can change. All us ladies wanna change the bad boy and jet was a little on the soft side. I will keep an eye out for Rome though and hopefully it has one heck of a preview. Unfortunately jet you will be banished to the make believe shelf in library full of other 3 star mediocre novels and Rule you will stay on the reread shelf.

Read Rule - this is so similar in many ways but without the depth. Ended up skipping chapters and only kept going because...
one: I had bought it
two: it surely has to get better and
three: it was well rated - would not recommend!
