Book Description
In this unique book, the modern Japanese interior is explored through specially commissioned photography of 40 contemporary homes, many never published before. Japanese architecture has always intrigued the rest of the world, and Japan Modern reveals dramatic new trends in Japanese interior design. Drawing strongly on tradition, yet reflecting the growth of non-conformity in Japanese society, these houses are unlike anything in contemporary Western architecture. Divided into four chapters - Managing Space, Reworking Tradition, Experimenting with Materials, and Personal Statements - this title combines these astonishing Japanese interiors with expert and accessible text on each project, as well as providing a host of ideas for contemporary living, including utilizing space, incorporating nature inside the home, and getting the most out of materials.
