My two-year old grandson first spotted this book at the children's section of the public library. He actually saw the book from several feet away and was taken with the colorful picture of the little boy with the blue and red sailboat on the cover. My grandson asked his mom and dad to read it over and over and did not want to take the book back to the library. He would even pretend he was the boy in the book and that he had a toy boat just like the character, Jack. His grandpa and I ordered the book for our grandson and his grandpa also made a blue sailboat with red sails just like in the book. There could not be a happier two-year old! He sits and "reads" the book with the boat on his lap. The story of Jack and his boat not only taught him about boats, but about love, patience, hope and relying on ones own skill and perseverance. This is a wonderful book to encourage reading, imagination and creativity in a child. The large, colorful and simple but exciting illustrations really add to the lovely and charming story.
