I was highly fan of the first one of the leech series and really delighted to find already the second book. Again, I couldn't stop reading it and was completely in this whole story.
After finishing this one I can't wait till the next one is coming out.

for all readers information: I would not recommend it as a stand alone. Do yourself a favor and read the first one (Caleo) first. If not it would be too confusing.

Well worth the wait!!!! 1. April 2013
Von Kimberly - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
james crawford nailed it!

I had been patiently (well, not really patiently at all....) awaiting the arrival of JACK ever since I finished up CALEO. I loved Caleo's story in the first book. Loved him as a character, loved everything....but let me tell you - Jack is my favorite. I said that in my review of CALEO. Nolan vs. Jack - Jack all the way. :-)

While the first book in the series just touched on the relationship between Jack and Caleo (or lack there of....), this really becomes the main focus of JACK. Left thinking that Caleo is dead at the end of Book #1, Jack makes it his mission to just survive with his sister, Jillian and Mickey (Stinky the cat). All is going as well as can be expected....and then things take a twist. Caleo is alive....

Oh, it gets so good. We get to REALLY see/hear how Jack feels about Caleo, and we really truly see that Jack will do ANYTHING for him. Some familiar characters from Book #1 return (Steve and Nolan...) but james gives us some new unbelievable characters to fall in love with.

I personally loved the introduction of Paris (a female leech - and if you remember from Book #1, female leeches are extremely rare and unbelievably UNSTABLE!!!). Her power is pretty cool and the interactions between her and Jack are hysterical.

The book kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. Just when you think things are calm and heading in the right direction, james throws us for a doozey!!!

I really feel like james's writing style improved a lot since CALEO. I am not saying that CALEO wasn't well written, because it was....but you can really see how james has grown.

There is so much that I want to say about JACK - but I can't give ANY of it away. It was well worth the wait and now....yeah....now I have to wait for Book #3.....le-sigh....

Kudos to you james crawford!! Well done!!!

PROOFREADER!!! 19. September 2014
Von KTrekker - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
Proofreader!!! Did the proofreader get slaughtered in all the multi-troop violence that seems inevitable after about every fifteen pages (or less). In this book there are several very adolescent blunders in grammar and misspellings as if the story was typed in the dark and never checked over. Besides that, I've been very pleased that the intimate and realistic relationship between Caleo and Jack has thus far not meant getting into each other's pants, and, hopefully, the growing affection has a potential for lasting longer (but Nolan seems to be throwing the wrench into the works there with stressing that Jack will grow old and grey while Caleo and Nolan will potentially stay young for as many years they live). I do agree with another reviewer that there seems to be an extreme problem with the guys keeping clothing on. Actually, I felt that in this book Jack's character was more developed than Caleo's in the first book (and I really like Caleo and hoped for more development there rather than seemingly endless adolescent pouting and near tantrums among the three main male characters). For me, there's quite some difficulty to keep straight Leeches and Blesseds, who's good and who's dangerous. The execution by Jack of the one Blessed/Leeches who could be trusted was disappointing even if it was to bring Caleo back from death. There must have been another two or three Blessed/Leeches nearby who could have been used to save Caleo. The loss of Jack's nephew's mother was another senseless slaughter and misery for Mickey who has proven one of the most committed, most reliable and unselfish assets that Caleo, Jack and Jillian have met up with. I imagine I'll read the next in the series when it comes out, but focussing on Nolan will surprise me if it is interesting, The growth in the relationship between Caleo and Jack had seemed the core theme from the beginning, especially as Jack turned from school and sports popularity to attempting to be a real, loving friend. It really was refreshing that despite the repeated nudity, there's been a hands-off respect for each other (unless I missed something). Please either get a grammar and spell check or someone with a sharp eye for the faux pas in the writing.

Nice Book and Great Follow-up 14. November 2013
Von Rickyg1974 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verifizierter Kauf
This is a great follow-up to "Caleo." I'm not sure I like Jack as a person (what kind of "brother" does the things, or lets the things be done to Caleo and can look himself in the mirror), but the author does an excellent job given him a sympathetic yet strong "voice" throughout. As with "Caleo" I thought the writing could have been better, but it's not as huge a deal here for me as it was in the first book. However, as a "Young Adult" book I found it odd (and kind of annoying) that no one seemed to be able to keep their clothes on.

All said, this a nice read that I would recommend without hesitation. Enjoy!

Beautiful! Paranormal! Powerful! 19. März 2014
Von Paul Berry - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Jack is the second YA and Paranormal book in the Leeches Series by James Crawford!

Jack Barely was a popular high school student, captain of the swim team and one of the hottest guys in school. Everything was taken away from him, his popularity, his grandmother and the most important, his friend Caleo who he loved and the Leeches are to be blamed for it all. Leeches are the most dangerous group to the humans as they have the powers to turn invisible, freeze people and turning into water to avoid capture. Jack's struggle now is to stay alive and protect his twin sister which is not the easiest task in the world. Jack now hears that his beloved Caleo is alive which starts the hunt for his friend. Will jack find Caleo before the Leeches destroy any chance he has to save his friend and tell Caleo how much he loves him.

I loved reading this book through the eyes of Jack perspective as book one was through Caleo's. It was such great reading about the possible love triangle between Jack. Caleo and Nolan. Those Leeches are about to destroy everything in Jack's life including his family, friends and basically everything that he loves. Jack is one of my favourite characters and it was so beautiful written to see him fight for his friend Caleo and the love they share. The way the author describes in detail about the characters was so brilliantly done. This was one of the best YA and Paranormal books that I have read in a long-time! I highly recommend this beautiful novel to anyone who enjoys the paranormal, danger and young love!

"Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review."

James Crawford does for gay teens and men what Stephanie Meyer did for teen girls and middle aged women!!! 12. November 2014
Von Clint Middleton & Dale Westcott - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

In Crawford's second book of the series, it's time for the audience to go deeper in to the mind and life of Jack Barely. In this episode we follow Jack's journey of self acceptance, self forgiveness and self reliance. We see him mature from a high school kid to a man in love who becomes ready to take on the relationship he has waited his whole life for. With so many twists and turns throughout, there truly is never a dull moment. Crawford does a fantastic development of Jack throughout along with Caleo and Jillian. Personally, there were times I wanted to throw the book across the room because I was so mad at what had just happened on the pages laid out before me. I ran the full spectrum of emotions from times of crying to totally astonishment.

Jack (Leech Book 2) really gives to us in the gay community our own love triangle which really built up here. Personally, I wanted to be Team Nolan but it totally came down to Team Jack. Once you read this, there's just no way you won't fall in love with and root for Jack and Caleo!!!!!
