Great intro on publishing SharePoint with UAG 26. März 2013
Von Alex - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I think the book should be a must read for anybody venturing into UAG and requires a quick ramp-up on this technology, especially if the project involves publishing SharePoint. My compliments to Fabrizio, great book!
Thanks again. Please, find my humble comments below.

In the chapter titled Planning a successful deployment, the author discusses several network topology options, as well as several security contexts in which UAG could be installed. In the section of the same chapter Step 3 - Install Forefront UAG, the author begins the walkthrough of installing TMG/UAG, but it was mentioned in which network topology and in which security context the installation will take place. If I am reader, who is trying to follow along, I would not be able to know what preliminary configurations I needed to complete (ex. Should I joint my test box to the domain, should I create additional subnets, etc.). I feel that a simple network diagram is missing here, to orient the reader in the environment they are about to build.
On page 24 there is screenshot from the Android Tablet, which indicates that an end user is prompted for a password in order to import the certificate of the UAG server. My understanding is that, the only reason a password would be required in this scenario, if the private key of the UAG certificate was included in the export. Since the client does not require the private key of the certificate in order to trust it (to say even more, the client should never have access to the private key), the reader may improperly interpret the requirements of establishing the certificate trust.
Overall, I agree with the point the author is making about the difficulties of establishing trust with a local Certificate Authority, and agree with the recommendation of using public CA Authorities like Verisign.
While we still on the subject of certificates, I feel that there an important part missing in this section, specifically on utilizing * certificates. In order to avoid requesting a certificate per application published, a * certificate significantly simplifies this task.

On Page 45. The configuration setting of allowing Others to Always connect, effectively provides any client with an opportunity to bypass policy checks. I would suggest adding a recommendation, to publish mobile clients on a separate trunk, hence maintaining policy checks for Windows, Mac, and Linux clients.
On Page 48 I would suggest adding some background information on how SharePoint handles mobile devices. When I was reading this (not being aware of this SharePoint feature myself) I was wondering, what would one need to do on the SharePoint itself to allow the proper rendering of content on mobile devices.
On Page 61, it is not clear where the change to the DetectionExpression property needs to be made (i.e. in what file?).
Great starting point for publishing mobile apps with UAG! 26. März 2013
Von Jordan Krause - Microsoft Forefront MVP - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
If you are a novice to Microsoft UAG and are interested in using it for publishing applications to your mobile phones, this book is a great place to start. It is difficult to weed through all of the UAG information out there on the internet, especially if you are only interested in pulling out what you need to get things like SharePoint and ActiveSync working for your mobile devices. This book will take you through installing UAG for the first time, and getting some of the most common applications published through your server for access from mobile phones.

This does not cover the options available inside UAG at a deep level, it's more of a starting point to get you up and running so that you can have a working platform while you learn more about the deeper options and customizations that are available to you.

One thing in particular that I enjoyed about this book are the screenshots. It is very easy to follow along and see in the book what you will be seeing on the screen while you run through your own configuration. With this book in hand, you should be able to get your own UAG server up and running very quickly.
Great read, especially for a UAG newbie 7. März 2013

I have been working with UAG (and it's predecessor IAG) for a number of years, and I found this book useful.

By focussing on an area often overlooked during the deployment, it gives a useful step-by-step approach, making it an easy read and simple to follow.

I would recommend this book for anyone new to UAG or anyone needing to tackle a deployment for mobile devices.
