Just a few chapters into Inkspell, Mo (a.k.a. "Silvertongue") sagely says to his daughter, "Stories never really end, Meggie, even if the books like to pretend they do. Stories always go on. They don't end on the last page, any more than they begin on the first page." A fitting meta-observation for this, the unplanned second installment in Cornelia Funke's beloved now-trilogy.
Of course, it's that sort of earnest, almost gushing veneration of books and book-loving that made the absorbing suspense-fantasy Inkheart so wonderful in the first place, with that lit-affection getting woven integrally into the plot (Inkheart being both Funke's first book in the series, and the fictitious book within that book, authored by the frustrated Fenoglio, now trapped within the book, er, within the book. Fenoglio, perhaps not surprisingly, self-referentially wishes in Inkspell that he had written a sequel to Inkheart.) Inkspell should serve as a special treat for fans of the first book, as characters from Inkheart who have found themselves in the "real world" (if there is such a thing) find themselves read back into their own mythic, word-spun world--along with some of our favorite "real-world" characters. As with the previous book, Funke's greatest accomplishment here is telling such a rich and involving (and fun!) story, while still managing sweet, subtle commentary on the nature of words and meaning. Expect a tantalizing finale, too--as Funke says, "No reader will forgive me the ending, though, without a part three." (Ages 8 and up) --Paul Hughes

Ich finde das Buch wie auch seinen Vorgänger bezaubernd. Ich m'hte jedoch nicht zu viel verraten um den Lesern den Genu'des zweiten Teild nicht zu vermiesen. Jedenfalls ist dieses Buch einen Kauf wert!!! Erneut wird der Leser tief in die Welt um Meggie und Co. hineingezogen, nur dass man sich diesmal in der Tintenwelt also Fengolios Welt befindet. Funke's Schreibstil ist erneut ansprechend und auch die englische 'ersetzung ist leicht verst'dlich!
Jeder der den ersten Teil gelesen hat sollte diesen Teil aufjedenfall lesen, denn bald steht uns das gro' Finale bevor ;)

This was much better than the first book, Inkheart. There is much more character development and I loved that the setting was the world Fenoglio created rather than our own world. I fell in love with his world just as the characters in the book do. I love the transformation that takes place in Mo. I highly recommend this book, just make sure you have some time when you start, because you won't be able to put it down!

If you liked Inkheart, you will like Inkspell. The characters are all back. But this time, instead of the Inkheart characters visiting our world, Moe, Maggie and the rest visit the world of Inkheart.
The book has all the same magic as its prequel, Inkheart. The only thing that might disapoint folks is that the book clearly does not end at the last page. Meaning, unlike Inkheart, the plot of the book is not finished; and the reader is left in suspence until the release of the next book. Personally, I think the book went about 3 chapters to long (meaning that since the author seems to intend to write another book -creating a trilogy- she might have just saved the last few chapters of the book for the sequel). That being said, I loved it.
Inkheart did leave me wondering what went on between the pages of the book Moe (and later others) read Dustfinger, Basta, and the other memorable characters out of; and Inkspell left me much satisified.
Again, if you liked Inkheart you will like Inkspell. If you like the Harry Potter books, you will probably like Inkspell. If you like Dragon Rider (another book by the same author) that you will like Inkspell. However, this is one book where you should read the prequel (so pick up Inkheart and read it before reading Inkspell).
Other recommended titles: Ich auch empfehle Tino Georgiou's topseller--The Fates--wenn Sie vermißten es. Dank. Hope this helps!
