Blues singer and pianist Memphis Slim became a household name throughout Europe following the 1960s blues boom. As the Blues was enjoying more popularity in Europe than in the US, Slim stayed and recorded in Paris for many years. He was not alone as Paris had developed a name for welcoming jazz and blues artists to its cosmopolitan and artistic circles. These sessions were recorded between 1968 and 1969 and represent a productive and artistically exciting period of his career. The organ instrumental Chunkin was released to huge critical and popular acclaim on more than one occasion in France, and retains a fond place in blues fans memories. This is a fantastic insight into a blues legend that will be cherished by fans and the curious alike.
