Statistical methods have been used by businesses for decades in order to improve the quality of their products and processes. One of the most important developments in orchestrating process improvement and re-engineering, is the application of statistical techniques grouped under the heading of "Six Sigma". Six Sigma is a statistical range measurement of an acceptably small number of defects in a given situation. Statistical tools are used both to compute this range and to control the numbers of defects. This is not a book about six sigma, but on statistical methods. The two first chapters deal with six sigma methodology but this is all. The rest of the book is simply a summary of several statistical tools (SPC, DOE, etc.), with several example taken from other books. If you are familiar with statistical methods, this book will not help will you to implement six sigma in your company. Better forget it.

I am with the General Electric Company. We at GE have made Six Sigma part of our culture and a way of doing business. I am GE Six Sigma Black Belt Trained, Green Belt certified and am adjunct assistant professor of mathematics at Quinnipiac College (Hamden, CT) teaching probability & statistics. I have found the book "Implementing Six Sigma: Smarter Solutions Using Statistical Methods" to be the best collection in one place that I have ever seen on Six Sigma since my involvement with it over the past four years. It is easy to read/understand, etc., and I recommend businesses, individuals, statistician, college professors, professional groups, etc., get a copy of the book. Also, if you are already a six sigma company or thinking about becoming one and/or any MB, BB, GB, etc., I recommend that you get a copy of this book. It is a winner! winner!

If you have been looking for one source that contains all you need to know about the "who, what, when, where and how to" of Six-Sigma, this is it. I use my copy every day, every day. Forrest has put together all the key management, statistical, and analytical tools you need. Projects management is made simple with Forrest 21 steps for project intergration of tools found on page 18. This book is geared towards practitioners of Six-Sigma. If you are a plant manager, buy this book for your quality and engineering managers. This book was written with integrity. Thanks Forrest.
