In this ground-breaking book, Egyptologist Robert Bauval and astrophysicist Thomas Brophy uncover the mystery of Imhotep, an ancient Egyptian superstar, pharaonic Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo, and Newton all rolled into one. Based on their research at the Step Pyramid Complex at Saqqara, Bauval and Brophy delve into observational astronomy to "decode" the alignments and other design features of the Step Pyramid Complex, to uncover the true origins and genius of Imhotep. Like a whodunit detective story they follow the clues that take them on an exhilarating magical mystery tour starting at Saqqara, leading them to temples in Upper Egypt and to the stones of Nabta Playa and the black African stargazers who placed them there.

Imhotep the African
describes how Imhotep was the ancient link to the birth of modern civilization, restoring him to his proper place at the center of the birthing of Egyptian, and world, civilization

5.0 von 5 Sternen REWRITING HISTORY ONE CHAPTER AT A TIME 3. September 2013
Von Robert Steven Thomas - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
The story of human history that is presently being taught in our classrooms contains many-many inaccuracies and missing chapters. Bauval and Brophy are two of the most prolific modern researchers in the quest to think outside the box and uncover our true shared history more accurately. As a fellow 40+ year researcher/author on human evolution I have personally read all of the books each have written, including their most recent joint project "Black Genesis," and written favorable reviews on most of them. For those of you who are familiar with their earlier work, this book will not disappoint. Those not familiar are in store for a rare exhibition of what cutting-edge, open-minded, modern thinking can achieve. The earliest written records science has available to consider the story of human history are from the two oldest civilizations Egypt & Sumer (hieroglyphs and cuneiform) which date to approximately 3000 BC. Aside from these written accounts the more conventional tools of archaeology and anthropology are the next-best method. Unfortunately, each of these methods are highly subjective and, right or wrong, are largely determined by a consensus of Establishment thinking. Few deny that a remarkably high degree of sophistication in knowledge was clearly displayed in Egypt's most famous sites. In this book you will learn that equally amazing knowledge was also displayed by early humanity in Egypt thousands of years earlier in the now barren desert 100 miles West of the better-known sites. This book is a part of the opening volley which will ultimately form a new worldview and better understanding of history. My only criticism of the conclusions from this book are that the source of knowledge demanded to create the engineering capability clearly put to practice by these early civilizations was far greater, advanced and more expansive than the authors of this book imply. In Brophy's 2005 book "Nabta Playa" the author provided compelling evidence that advanced astronomy, including the knowledge of the true shape of the Milky Way Galaxy, its center and Earth's location, was known in approximately 6500 BC. Also, knowledge of the speed of light, precise distance to the primary stars in Orion and other important information which was only scientifically proved conclusively in the last 50 years. Are we really expected to believe this information was discovered by a primitive people with one foot still in the stone age? This book is a good start toward unraveling the mystery of the existence of highly advanced engineering and technology put to practice in human history ... but additional work must follow to uncover the actual source behind Imhotep's knowledge.

2.0 von 5 Sternen A lot about prior books. Little about Imhotep 15. April 2014

I found this book interesting, but only because I have not read their previous book "African Genesis". There is very little about Imhotep, probably because there is very little known about him. A lot of theory, speculation and possibilitie, which is what you have to expect with this type of 'history'.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Really boring read with no real point 25. Februar 2014
Von L. Blumenthal - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I'm a sponge for ancient Egypt information, and I think Robert Bauval is a great thinker, if not a spellbinding writer. But with a decent co-writer he gets the job done.
This time, he spends all his time lecturing the reader on star positions in the distant past proving when temples were built and when ancient peoples were gathering deep south along the Nile. Although he's supposed to be following the quest for Imhotep, he gets sidetracked far too many times. Then he makes the startling statement that apparently sums up the book: Imhotep was black.
Geez. I thought it was already well known that the Egyptians were a mixed bag of races. You can see it in the Cairo Museum. Some statues are clearly of black people, Some show seated lords with inlaid gray and blue eyes. I've seen it myself. Paintings in the tombs show a populace rather tan in color. If Imhotep were black, no one would blink an eye.

Stay away from this book and find something more interesting to read.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Logic 14. Juni 2014
Von Walter J. Mccoy - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
The book can be summed up in 2 sentences:
1. Ancient Egyptian construction is astronomically aligned!
Of course it is. How else? It is boring to catalog all the alignments. There are plenty of Native North American alignments, also. Go to the apex of the Bighorn mountains to see another Stonehenge. What were they seeking at that altitude? "Teepee" rings, are not. They are aligned. But Archeologists can't see them because everyone knows that Indians did not construct in stone. (do they not teach Logic in Archeology doctor school?)
2. Ancient Egyptian culture is older than we thought!
Of course it is. McCoy's Theorem of Univariate Dynamics and Airline Scheduling states that: Variables that can only vary in one direction, will.
Egyptian culture cannot be younger than it's evidence. It cannot be precisely as old as it's evidence, unless we arrogantly assume that we have all of the evidence. Ergo, it must be older. (do they not teach Logic in Archaeology doctor school?)
Lastly, the book's title is self-defeating.. Imhotep did not build the cosmos; the cosmos built him. Metaphors are treacherous. All ancient peoples noticed the stars.
