I read anywhere from 3-4 books per week and romance is my favorite genre. I've loved books, I've adored books, I've hated books and I've been indifferent to books, but no book in recent history has angered me as much as this book. I have never written a review before, because never have I felt the burning desire to RANT as I do after reading this book.
Let me be clear, I did not hate this book and I love, love, love Jaxon! I also like Remy. I despise Sara, if she were real, I would walk up to her and punch her in the face repeatly. I'm not too fond of Jaxon's mother, either. What mother in her right mind would act so lovingly to the "fake" daughter that destroyed her son and didn't bother to talk to her either for five years? She hates the DOCTOR that likes her son, but loves the one that ruined it? Seriously? Anyway, back to Sara (grrrr!) here is a girl that was unwanted, unloved and abused by her parents. She was bullied in school. Enter Jaxon. He stops the bullies, he rescues her from her horrible family life, he loves her so much that he wants her to not work, focus totally on studying and he will take care of everything else. He gets a job that he doesn't want, he never complains and, oh yeah, he freakin' loves her AND tells her all the time.
So, one random comment from his mother (again, what kind of mother would talk smack about her son to his girlfriend, that turned out to be wrong, by the way) has her turn into a raving b**ch, where she physically abuses him, bullies him, talks to him like he's a piece of garbage and ruins his life. Really? He continues to love her, want to help her, continues to try to talk things through and she won't even entertain the idea. She finally leaves him without so much as a *uck you very much (good riddance!). Five years latter, after several things happen, they hook back up. Let's not even mention how easily she cheats on her new "boyfriend" and Jaxon doesn't even say anything to her about what a complete psycho she was when she thought he had cheated on her five years earlier...anyhooo moving on. He AGAIN saves her life, pours out his heart to her and wants to take care of her, the only request? don't leave me again, I don't think I can survive it this time if you did. Which, of course, she promises to never do.
The VERY SAME DAY, hours later actually, what does she do? You guessed it, she leaves him. Why? Because some total stranger told her to run from him, and the man who literally saved her life twice and wanted to give her everything, was not even given the courtesy of being able to defend himself, she just left without a word..AGAIN. Then, without any real threat or pressure from Remy, the guy who crashes into the car she was in and kidnapped her no less, she throws Jaxon (who always has her back) to the wolves and blabs that he was basically responsible for the death of Remy's brother (oh yeah, the very brother who wanted to rape and kill her AND who had done that in the past to other women). Of course then, she's all boo-hoo, what have I done, I'm such a witch, blah, blah, blah after she destroys everything.
I have never seen someone with less loyalty, less deserving of anyones love then this character. She is irrational, childish, nasty, hypocritical, abusive and for someone supposidly so "smart" she is really stupid!
Having said all that (and trust me, I am still angry with this character...this rant only marginally helped) I have purchased book two because I have to know what happens. I'm only a couple of chapters into it and Sara isn't getting any better. I feel horrible for Jaxon and I kind of feel sorry for Remy because he actually wants her too! Run Remy Run! My other, less frustrating, problem with this book, is these are motorcycle gang members, their mouths are filthy, but very little nasty, hot sex scenes. Spice it up girl!
I am forcing myself to stop here because I really feel like I could go on for days, thanks for letting me get that off my chest! As far as recommending this book to anyone else, that depends on how tolerant you are......I am giving it 3 angry stars!
