The three laws of Robotics:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm
2) A robot must obey orders givein to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

This is not merely one story, but a collection of stories taken from eras of time from 1998 to 2059. The book is set with the premise of a reporter interviewing one of the head 'robopsychologists' at US Robots and Mechanical Men, Inc. She tells of many of her and her fellow scientists' encounters with a runaway 'lost' robot, a mind-reading robot, a practical jokester robot, and a robot named Cutie, who refuses to believe that human beings created him and goes on to form a robot 'cult', recruiting other robots who then proceed to bowdown and worship the self-proclaimed 'prophet'. Although written over 50 years ago, Isaac Asimov gives great insight into the future world of science and culture that we can only imagine.

First, i didn't want to read it, because i actually don't like science fiction.
But then I decided to try, and it wasn't a mistake at all!
It's book of short stories, all about robotics and the famous three laws:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existance as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
There ist for example a little girl, who loves her robot more than anything else in the world, or a telepathic robot, who can read minds, and isn't easy to be "defeated", and many more. I think you have to love them stories!!! And even the grim Susan Calvin, the main person in the book is loveable in some kind!
Even if you aren't sci-fi fanatic (like me)!!!!

Without 'I, Robot' would there have really been any truely entertaining robot oriented science fiction? Asimov was one of the few writers who had enough grounded realism to convincingly portray mankind coping with his own inventions as they mature and change the function of society. Daringly, he used a woman as the main influence and creative force. Unlike the trashy, yet popular, sci-fi writing we are given the experince of logic coexisting with emotion, structure facing decay, and the future influence created from current events within the fictional timeline. Kudos to all those who can enjoy and value this collection of short stories despite the unpolished presentation of ideas. If it weren't for these stories, all robots would be mere mindless creatures on continuous rampage...which is nearly as tedious as the current 'soulful human' robots sapily depicted in the more recent sci-fi ramblings.

I Fell In Love With A Robot!
