How does Lance Armstrong do it? One of the greatest athletes of all time has faced monumental obstacles on his journey to the pinnacle of the sports world as the record seven-time Tour de France champion. Author Brad Kearns, a longtime friend of Armstrong and former champion professional triathlete, offers a unique insider's perspective. In this intimate and inspiring book he gives you direct access to the four success factors that Armstrong embodied as the world's greatest cyclist:

  • Positive Attitude: Overcome difficult circumstances and maintain a winning environment by interpreting your past experiences and present circumstances in a positive light.
  • Clarity of Purpose: Develop the deep commitment and focus needed to align your behavior and the pursuit of your goals with your ultimate life purpose.
  • Specialized Intelligence: Cultivate your smarts by learning and improving from mistakes, making intuitive decisions, and adopting a big-picture perspective on life challenges.
  • Pure Confidence: Develop a belief in your abilities that transcends tangible results by connecting with your most powerful motivator--a pure love of the pursuit of peak performance. In doing so, you will awaken your inner strength and banish the fear of failure forever.

1.0 von 5 Sternen The simple answer is, he doesn't. Dope 24. Oktober 2012
Von GJC - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe

I've noticed Brad Kernes' other book "How Tiger Does it," perhaps he needs to find different athletes to follow.

At 40, I find it embarrassing that the two individuals whom I thought were the two greatest athletes of my generation, are actually complete failures as human beings. In my 20s I watched both skyrocket to fame, overcome incredible adversity, and at times I even dreamed about doing what they could do. 20 years later, both are remembered more for their failures and I wouldn't trade anything to live either's existence.

Of the four qualities listed in the book (positive attitude, clarity of purpose, specialized intelligence, pure confidence), none mention character, truth, wisdom, ethics or truly deep qualities. In fact, the above qualities could just as easily be applied to Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin (I'm not comparing Armstrong to either, just making a point about the lack of character as a quality). Maybe the template Kernes has created misses what is truly heroic, lasting, and really worth striving for.

I don't want to discuss Lance's life, just a book written about how someone who achieved a lot might not be the template that most of us really need to follow.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn't much from Lance Armstrong himself, but it is a good read.

5.0 von 5 Sternen George Pierce Review 19. Januar 2007

This book delves into the depths of motivation and lays out many particulars and options for developing focus to achieve. Brad has offered many of his own insights as well as "insider" tips that no one else could have come up with without extensive research. This book offers practical day to day tips to "re-wire" your brain for accomplishing goals, to plant seeds and harvest fruits of your plans. You can't put this down once you are into it and I suggest taking away some key insights and implenting for 2007. Great effort Brad and Thanks for the Book!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Bravo! 6. Dezember 2006

This book is typical of Brad Kearns. Here's another insightful, easy read by the author of 'Power Month; Change your life!' that goes far beyond the topic of the subjects he writes about. The reader is given gifts of real life lessons to easily plug into their daily lives.

My favorite example in "How Lance does it": "The greatest human freedom is the freedom to choose one's attitude." Great stuff!
