Kurzbeschreibung

From Amazon.com bestselling author Cassie Mae comes HOW TO DATE A NERD, the first in a hilarious and heartwarming series of "HOW TO" books. Next in the series are: HOW TO SEDUCE A BAND GEEK and HOW TO HOOK A BOOKWORM!

"OMG. OMG. OMG. Hilarious. I heart this book so much." -- Karen Jensen

"This book is so freaking awesome. I can't wait to read the next one." -- Mary Bean

"As an adult who reads Young Adult books, this one is refreshing and funny. I want to read Cassie's other books." -- Anonymous

Zoe has a great pair of legs, perky boobs, and wears exactly what she needs to show it all off. She works hard for the easy sleazy ‘you only wish you were me’ reputation, burying who she really is—an all-out nerd.

The only time Zoe gets to be herself is when she hides under her comforter to read X-Men comics, sending jealousy stabs at everyone who attends Comic-Con. Keeping up her popular rep is too important, and she’s so damn insecure to care about the consequences. But when Zoe’s sister takes her car for a ‘crash and burn into a tree’ joyride, her parents get her a replacement. A manual. Something she doesn’t know how to operate, but her next door neighbor Zak sure as heck does.

Zak’s a geek to the core, shunned by everyone in school for playing Dungeons and Dragons at lunch and wearing “Use the Force” t-shirts. And Zoe’s got it bad for the boy. Only Zak doesn’t want Popular Zoe. He wants Geek Zoe.

She has to shove her insecurities and the fear of dropping a few rungs on the social ladder aside to prove to Zak who she really is and who she wants to be… if she can figure it out herself.

5.0 von 5 Sternen What an entertaining read! 30. März 2014

This was my first book by CM and I absolutely loved it - big time. It's so much fun to read about Zoe finally freeing her (really cool) dorky self. And the romance just plays out nicely. The minute I finish this review I'm definitely getting the "fat friend" next.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Sweet, Funny, and Absolutely Amazing! 24. September 2013
Von Farrah - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Sweet, funny, and a lovely YA read! How to Date a Nerd was absolutely wonderful. It made me laugh, swoon, and desperately wish for a hot nerd of my own. Loved this book!

I was a little worried going into this book. I read another book with a similar premise before and, unfortunately, didn't like it. But, because I really like Cassie Mae's other books, I decided to go for it. And, I'm glad I did, because this turned out to be a fantastic read.

Zoe was a great heroine. She was easy to relate to. Throughout all of middle school, she was teased for being a nerd. So, in high school, she wanted to change that. And, she did. But, that meant cutting out her old life, hiding her true self, and leaving behind her best friend/almost more. She was a flawed heroine. She had insecurities and was really mean to Zak in an effort to prove she wasn't what he was (a nerd). But, despite that, she remained likable. She knew her mistakes, and, over the course of the book, tried to correct them. She grew up and got past her insecurities. So, despite the moments when I wanted to shake some sense into her, I really liked her.

Zak. Was. So. Adorable. Oh, my goodness, he was so sweet and wonderful and just perfect. Not to mention, he had the hot nerd thing going on, which is irresistible to any nerd girl (i.e. me). I definitely swooned over how amazingly sweet he was a few times. I adored him. I thought he was perfect.

The romance was super sweet. Zoe and Zak were so cute together. It was nice seeing their relationship encouraging Zoe to find her strength to be herself. And Zak was just being a charmer the entire time. I thought they were lovely together.

The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. Cassie Mae is a master at incorporating humor into her books this one is no different. There were several laugh out loud moments. And, a few serious moments that added depth to the book. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was perfect.

How to Date a Nerd was a wonderful YA romance. I adored this book! It was sweet, funny, and a truly enjoyable read. Lovers of YA romance, if you want a light, fun book, this is one you'll want to read.

3.0 von 5 Sternen 3 1/2 stars Almost but not quite a winner... 25. September 2013

This was one of my most highly anticipated books in a long while. I was sooo excited for it that I had the release date marked on my calender. I jumped for joy when it was released a little early, purchased it immediately & started reading it straight away. So it saddens me to admit that I didn't LOVE it like I thought I would, like I really, really wanted to. I "middle of the road" liked it. :( It was just okay & left me wanting something a little more than I got.
Why? Well, I loved loved loved Zak! <3 I can completely understand why Zoe loved him but I don't quite understand why he loved her. The author did such a good job in Zoe's 1st person POV telling of the story of getting me to totally agree with Zoe on that but not quite enough to explain his devotion to her. Why Zak? What is there about Zoe that you love so much? I don't get it...
She's so awful to him & gives so little back to make up for it that I was left almost wanting him to dump her butt. Don't get me wrong. I totally understand the wanting to fit in & changing things about yourself to do so especially at that age. But there just wasn't enough redeeming on her part for me to be happy with the ending. There were several times where I had to just stop reading, put my Kindle down & walk away most notably with the "stalker" comments. She pissed me right the heck off with that! :o
*sigh* Maybe if we'd gotten his side of the story alongside hers to explain why her saying "sorry" a bunch of times & that one little cafeteria scene was enough to make up for her YEARS of horrid behavior & the utter betrayal of their relationship... if we could have read his thoughts & feelings on their past relationship. Or if there had been more of the book after the cafeteria scene devoted to her proving she was worthy of him then maybe I would have been cheering more. :/ Or if we could have gotten more of the geeky Zoe/pre-popular Zoe & her BFF Zak backstories...Zoe just needed to work quite a bit harder than she did to prove herself to him & me and the one-sided telling didn't do it for me.
Finally, some of the "nerdy" stuff that she was so embarrased to own up to liking...I didn't get why she & her friends felt that way about them. Dungeons & Dragons I get as being an extreme nerd indicator. But I thought Star Wars was a universally loved movie franchise especially by guys from all walks of life. I know not all girls including me don't really appreciate them but I didn't think liking it necessarily meant a guy was a nerd. so... :/ And Dr. Who as well...yes it boarders on the nerdy line but thought it was trendy enough to cop to liking it these day. All the teens I know (none of them nerds) love it and argue about who was the best Dr. *David Tennant rules!* And the video games? World of Warcraft, maybe. Call of Duty? No...again, I thought that was loved by guys everywhere. LOL! And Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Come on, doesn't everyone love those? The movies are probably the biggest hits to come out of Hollywood in the past decade or so...
Well anyway...those are my initial reactions to the book. I finished reading it a little earlier today & have thought about how to review it for the rest of the day. Maybe I'll reread it and have a different take. I'm still a big fan of Cassie's & hope that in future books we can get dual viewpoints to get a fuller picture of the relationship & why we should be cheering for the couple.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Cassie's Writing is TOTAL AWESOMESAUCE 24. September 2013

10 STARS..But realistically we will give it 5 since thats they way it goes.

I received a ARC for an honest review

When I first heard Cassie was writing How to Date a Nerd I admit there may have been some happy dancing going on,Im not going to lie. When I hear that the awesome Cassie is writing another book your darn right Im going to get excited.
Lets delve right in without any spoilers, mmmkay?Zoe is the epitome of mean girl at school. Not going to lie I envisioned Lindsey Lohan in the movie Mean Girls.
But Zoe was 10 times better then Lindsey. The catch here is that Zoe is a closet nerd.Majorly closet nerd. She doesn't want to risk her reputation of being popular..possibly loose and somewhat mean.Say what? How can you possibly like a girl like that?Easy. Its a facade.Perhaps a bad choice on Zoe's part but a facade is what it is.You will learn why Zoe is the way she is once you read How to Date a Nerd. Zac is the boy next door and the boy Zoe has the hots for.The problem?Zacs a nerd.Major nerd.Like one that would ruin Zoe's Popularity. But he's also happens to be a really HOT nerd.I have to say the ending was amazing and I wasn't prepared for how satisfying it would be.It left me literally hungry for more. Will Zoe finally overcome her fears of not being popular or will she choose popularity over love?
The writing as always flows amazingly smooth. The story draws you and keeps you entrenched in Zoe's we will say mental battle with the battle of popularity or nerd.Cassie makes writing a review easy because I can find nothing to critique her on.Period.Want some critiquing,Cassie ? You need squirrels in your book.There.

I am utterly convinced that Cassie is the next big thing. She is an amazing writer and I dive into her books the minute I can.You will not be disappointed.Give How to Date a Nerd a try..You will not be disappointed.Congratulations Cassie on another amazing book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Not just for nerds but anyone who loves to laugh. ;) 24. September 2013

I can not tell you how much I love this book. I too was a closet nerd in high school. I'd sneak home just in time for Star Trek. Zoe is so many girls out there in school right now. They want to be popular, want to fit it, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to make people love them. I think that's why I fell in love with her from the minute I read her list of rules. She's constructed this idea that the life she lives makes her happy but then a pesky little thing happens... Zak. How can you ignore the adorableness of this guy? He is one of my favorite book guys because he kinda of reminds me of my geeky husband who loves Star Wars and comic books. His character really brought out the best in Zoe and they make such a cute nerd couple.

Even if you don't speak elvish or know all the answers to the Harry Potter game you will still be able to find so much to love about this book and these characters. Most of us in high school hid who we were to be liked. Or maybe we didn't even know who we were at the time. This book really shows how growing up helps us become who we were meant to be. Even if that means wearing glow in the dark Green Lantern t-shirts.

I'm going to tell it to you straight...
I HATED Zoe for the first 3/4 of the book.
I get that she wanted to be popular and she was tired of being made fun of... but the way she treated Zak in the hallway at school...
OMG. I wanted to throat punch her.
She did finally get better and embrace her inner geek goddess, which I loved (especially the cafeteria scene at the end).
Zak - oh how I love nerdy boys. Cassie Mae writes the nerdy/geeky/good guy male characters to PERFECTION. I love that they are completely real and could very well be my best friend in real life.
Yeah yeah, I have a thing for tattooed bad boys.. but let's be honest... a 'real' character is just so much better... and I love the dorky boys. LOVE THEM!!
