How To Cook Healthy Recipes is a book designed for people who want to take advantage of the many health benefits of home-cooked meals, but who aren't comfortable enough in the kitchen to pull it off.

Many of us lead busy lives, and at the end of the day the temptation to save time by eating prepared foods can be overwhelming. Unfortunately, those prepared foods from restaurants as well as grocery stores are more than likely loaded down with undesirable food additives.

Remember that food additives--like artificial colors and flavorings, texture enhancers, and stabilizers--are put into foods not for "food" reasons, but for business reasons. They're designed to make food look more attractive, or last longer on the shelf. These are substances that your body isn't made to handle and doesn't know what to with, and the more you rely on food made by other people, the more likely it is that these undesirable substances are building up in your body on a daily basis.

The only way to break this cycle is to take the time to learn to cook meals in your own home. If you can get comfortable in the kitchen making delicious and healthy meals that don't take too long to prepare, you can get into the routine of eating more wholesome food on a regular basis, which means protecting your body from all of those industrial food additives that go along with prepared, pre-seasoned, and packaged foods.

How To Cook Healthy Recipe
s will teach you how to do just that. You'll get an introduction to the basics of the kitchen, including the following information:

  • Tools you'll need to be able to work efficiently as well as safely
  • Techniques you'll use to make your meals
  • More than two dozen simple recipes (with tips on how to tweak them)
  • Tips on experimenting with new spices and flavors
  • How to make your own stock (and what kind to buy if you don't want to make it)
  • Which additives and ingredients to avoid when cooking
  • How to change any recipe to minimize your food additive intake

If you're committed to being as healthy as possible, you need to learn to cook your own meals. This book will teach you all the basics you need to prepare healthy, wholesome, natural meals in your own kitchen on a daily basis.

Even if you've never cooked in your life, there's no reason to be intimidated--just pick up a physical or digital copy and get started today.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Helpful natural cooking resource 1. März 2013

I had basically zero cooking skills when I bought this book, and I was really just looking for a way to have healthy and tasty meals that weren't loaded down with all kinds of artificial additives and ingredients.

This book was really helpful, even in some unexpected ways. It covers the basic tools you'll need in your kitchen to avoid frustration and get the job done. It seems to cover pretty much every basic cooking skill. Also, I haven't tried all of the recipes, but the ones I've tried have turned out pretty well.

The bottom line is I wanted to make natural, healthy meals, but I used to be intimidated by cooking. Now I'm comfortable in my own kitchen, I can cook a few things pretty well, and I'm excited to try some more.

You also learn a lot of odds and ends about things to look for and things to avoid if you want a natural diet, so that was cool. This is a really helpful resource for anyone who is starting out learning to cook, or anybody who is interested in minimizing their intake of unnatural stuff when cooking at home.

Although the book was VERY basic, it was really full of good advice for the beginning cook - particularly someone who has never cooked! I've been cooking for 50-some years and enjoyed reading it because it brought memories of my first attempts at cooking.

This book has good nutritional advice. If more people ate this way then America and the world would be much healthier. As a novice cook, I really liked the equipment section and how to make your own stock.

Basic to the core ... Near-Zero Fluff and almost all useful information. Patrick Barrett starts with What to Eat and Why, and Which cooking equipment he deems necessary. I did NOT agree with all his 'essentials' at all however, and I also felt that promoting brand-name super-expensive items was, well heck, a cheap trick. That aside, I found the book's contents and Pat's recommendations astute. An unfortunately weak point was the repetitiveness of the recipes such as Broiling Steak, Broiling Pork, Broiling Chicken; all listed identical steps! Broiling Meats would have been a kinder title. The book is slim and brief ... still MORE recipes rather than duplicates, THAT might make it Five Stars. Then there would be no necessity for the author's suggestion to 'write me a positive review.'
