``Hour Game'' by David Baldacci is his second book with the protagonists Sean King and Michelle Maxwell. And, in my opinion, the whole plot is even better than in ``Split Second''. But it is not the story itself that keeps you reading and reading. It is rather the many secrets that are enfolding the more you get involved in the story, the more you crawl deeper into this book. Deep Secrets hiding behind the surface of all of those characters Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have to confront to solve those highly complicated murders of a very intelligent and very serious killer. A killer knowing exactly what he is doing and what he has in mind.
Baldacci acomplished with this story a very sophisticated and complicated web in which all the characters are involved in some way guarding partly cruel secrets and keeping them from each other. Thus Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have the difficult task to tear apart this dense web of love, intrigues and crime to look beyond the surface. That is the only possibility they have to resolve the case and to catch the killer before he has the chance to complete his nasty work. For what the two investigators don't know is the fact, that they are already included in his terrible game of murdering!
All in all it is a very profound book with a very high-level-story and deep and well drafted charcters that make you imagine to be really there, among of all those persons, among the murders and really not far off the killer.
