2.0 von 5 Sternen Nervig, nerviger, Dianna Kelly 17. Februar 2011

November 2009
The 2. book in the Hotshots series. An easy read like all of B. Andre's books, it's fast paced so you won't really get bored. Those hotshots are just that ... HOT! Sam is a typical romance hero risking - and almost losing - his life for Dianna. What i missed was some more info on Logan from the first book. But we got some idea about Connor (the next book: Never Too Hot) who's been injured in a fire in Wild Heat. Only 4 Stars for this one 'cause compared with Wild Heat it lacked some suspense.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Not as good as it's prequel. Too much time spent on the characters lusting over one another. Where's the real bonding? 2. November 2009

Sam is a "hot shot" firefighter who battles forest fires for a living. His life is certainly exciting enough, but we didn't get to see him living it in this story. Instead he is helping his ex-fiance, a woman who skipped out on him 10 years earlier, search through the forest for her abducted sister. The author, Bella Andre, worked at making the story a fast-paced adventure. Unfortunately, she watered the whole thing down by making every page a repeat of how much the h/h are lusting over one another. It got ridiculous. The heroine is supposedly afraid of heights, but while climbing a steep cliff she could only think about how much she wanted Sam. Page after page of the couple thinking nothing but "I want to taste her", "I want to see if he's as good as I remember", etc. I got really bored. I finally skimmed the last chapter just to get it over with. I didn't see anything between the h/h except painful memories of the past and lust.

"Hot as Sin" is the sequel to "Wild Heat". The first book is better. Here is the link:

    Von Jacqueline - Veröffentlicht auf
This book was fair. I'll start off by saying that I don't like books where the hero and heroine were lovers in the past. I like to read about people meeting for the first time and falling in love, not getting back together. I found it improbable that Sam would go running off to the side of his ex-fiance whom he hadn't seen in 10 years even if he did hear she had a car accident. I also think they fell back into each other's arms too quickly. Three days after being apart 10 years was a bit short to be believable.

There was very little use made of him being a hotshot forest firefighter. If a book is about a firefighter, there should be more firefighting in it. I also don't like when authors get around telling you who the bad guy is by calling him "the man." It wouldn't have hurt a thing to use his name.

The writing was decent. The dialog was a little corny here and there. Still I'm willing to give the next one a try.

5.0 von 5 Sternen great romantic suspens 31. Oktober 2009
Von Harriet Klausner - Veröffentlicht auf
In a small Vail, Colorado café, television host Dianna Kelley meets her sister April who left home because her sibling was controlling and overprotective. Dianna wanted to make up for the years April was in foster care but she could not connect with her when April informs her she lives in a commune. Dianna explodes and April leaves; Diana drinks before driving and gets into an accident in which she is injured and the other driver dead.

In the Sierra Nevada range, firefighter Sam MacKenzie learns of Dianna's injuries. Although a decade has passed since she miscarried and left him, he runs to her side. When they meet again, the sparks that remained simmering for years ignites into a passionate firestorm. However both remain wary of being hurt so each hides their deep feelings from the other. Dianna learns April was kidnapped by someone seeking revenge. Sam swears he will rescue her sister, but Dianna insists on accompanying him on the arduous trek into the Sierras. On the dangerous journey, they realize not just how much love they share, but rejoice in revealing how much love they have for one another. However finding and rescuing April and surviving remain the goal.

Bella Andre has written a heated second chance at love romantic suspense starring a hotshot firefighter and a TV talk show host; each brings fear to their fiery relationship. April adds to the mix as a gutsy individual not waiting to be rescued. She makes the tale's thriller elements work with her courage and fortitude. Readers will relish this fine tale as April has choices to make and one wrong one could lead to her death.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Too many WTFs for me 31. Oktober 2014
Von Kathleen McClain - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition
Icy roads cause a two-car accident in Vail, Colorado, involving famous newscaster Dianna Kelley and a drug dealer. When the drug dealer dies, his brother blames Dianna and kidnaps her estranged sister, April, who has come to the hospital to see her sister. When Dianna’s former fiancé and forest fire fighter Sam MacKenzie hears about the accident on the news he rushes to her side. Their breakup ten years ago came after a previous car accident in which Dianna miscarried his child. Back then, emotional reactions made each feel the other was rejecting them but now Sam, who realizes he still cares for Dianna, insists on helping her locate her sister. Dangerous hiking, rafting, mountain climbing, a fire, and fights with bad guys all follow, as does true love.

Andre writes reasonably well but the characters are flat—he the brooding, never-got-over-her-but-is-afraid-of-getting-involved-with-her-again hero; she, the trailer park girl who worked hard to get to the top but who has never gotten over him.

And, Andre’s plotting is contrived with characters continually doing really stupid, unrealistic, and crazy things so Andre can move her chess pieces wherever she wants to on the board, despite the stupidity of said actions. An example of the WTF---When April manages to temporarily escape her captors she reaches a pay phone at a campground at a park station. She says nothing to anyone staying there but calls her sister. When she is unable to reach her, this is what is supposed to be going through her mind: “She could call the police, but her kidnapping was all so random that she was afraid they might not believe her.” ??!!?? Now April has been held prisoner overnight, her clothes are shredded, she has burns from being tied up, she fell down a hill in her escape so she is beat up. She is also the sister of a famous newscaster. And,really, she won't call the police because she thinks the police wouldn’t believe her???? Have you ever heard of a kidnap victim who wouldn't call the police because they thought they won't be believed?

In pursuit of the kidnapper, Sam and Dianna must raft white water on a chilly, windy day. There is a damning of much of the river and they must jump into the freezing cold water to avoid a collision. Dianna’s head hits a rock (and she is already beat up from the car accident) and she goes partially unconscious and almost drowns. Sam manages to pull her up on the riverbank. When she comes to she stands up then he backs her up to a rock face, kisses and fondles her, pushes her pants to her ankles and performs oral sex on her. Soooo, Dianna is exhausted, badly chilled, badly beat up, barely conscious, in a desperate chase after the kidnapper, darkness is soon to be upon them, but they stop on a rocky bank to do this?

Later they get a tip that someone saw April on a trail and Sam is concerned about what to do and wants them to think out their best strategy. Might they be wasting their time on a false lead? Might it be a trick to kidnap or attack famous newscaster Dianna? If so, how could they avoid that? Dianna says, ”I’m not going to sit around when I finally have somewhere to look for my sister. I’m sick of taking time to think things through.” ???

I made myself finish this novel but, frankly, it was a chore. I really, really dislike my protagonists acting stupidly and unrealistically just to get the plot to move in the direction the author wishes it to.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Waiting on the next one 27. Dezember 2009

I read a few negative reviews on this book but still wanted to read it after reading the first book Wild Heat. Sam and Dianna's story was a good read and you felt for the up brining that both Dianna and April had. Sam and Dianna's previous relationship showed that they where not mature enough to be together and even though the 10 years they where seperated was not what either wanted the time to find their feet and then refind each other was a good read. My only disappointment was with the ending, you understand that they will work it all out but I wanted to know how they where going to stay together and still juggle thier respective careers? Maybe in Sam's brother Connor's book coming next she may touch on it? But my recommendation if you liked the first one go forth and read this one.
