Trishelle Page has known pain in her life, but instead of it making her weak, she's stronger. Confident. That is until the day a fairy kidnaps her during her staring role in Peter Pan's play and tells her not only do fairy tales exist, but that she's the soulmate of the pirate they call Hook, making her question everything she ever thought she knew.

Captain James Hook is a man at the end of his rope. He's not the villainous bastard tales have made him out to be. So when the curvaceous blonde drops literally at his feet, he aims to prove it to her. If only to get her into his bed.

What neither one knows is that fate and magic are conspiring and they can deny the attraction all they want but their happily ever after is already written, it's just a matter of getting there.

Holy wow, Hook's Pan is my favourite book in the series, I think. I absolutely and whole-heartedly love it. Marie Hall's creativity again managed to floor me. How someone can come up with the worlds she creates in her Kingdom Series is beyond me. They are so imaginative and truly take you on an unforgettable journey. Every scene from the book came to life in my head while reading the book. It was like a movie playing in my head. And a good one at that.

In this story we meet the infamous Captain James Hook and Trishelle Page, who is a regular girl living on Earth and working as a librarian, trying to deal with the pain caused be the loss of her beloved sister. When she ends up being dumped on Hook's ship wearing a Peter Pan costume for a role in a play, her world goes topsy-turvy and she has to question everything she believed in. Especially her belief that love doesn't exist and isn't worth the trouble.

Hook was absolutely drool-worthy. He just oozed sex-appeal and hotness to the point I considered reading the book while sitting in the freezer. Unlike the other characters from the Kingdom series he was not the dark haunted brooding type. Yes, he was in pain about losing the love of his life but didn't come off as the tortured soul. He is sarcastic and cocky, while charming and cheeky at the same time. His comments alone will make you swoon and melt.

And Trishelle was sassy, feisty and snarky. I enjoyed her attitude. The way she teased Hook and allowed herself to enjoy the moment despite her fear and objections to a future with him. She is a good person with a big heart, but also a woman that is strong and doesn't let other people define who she is.

I absolutely loved the banter between her and Hook. It was funny, sexy and adorable - truly enchanting.

I read all the others in this and loved the way that they all got their happy ending. The book was well written that you could feel the frustration of the main characters in this wanting to be know for who they are not what they were. Wanting to have something that is just lost and holding on to hope it might still be there.

I hope that the writer is able here to write some other tales with reference to these characters as indicated as I think these couples still have a lot more to offer.

Definitely recommend can be read alone as well although with the other books the references to the other characters

HASH(0x98d8c9d8) von 5 Sternen Made Me Love Hook! 27. April 2013
Von JMAuthor - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
Hook's Pan is the fifth book in the Kingdom Series by Marie Hall. I first came across the series when I found Gerard's Beauty, a twist on Beauty and the Beast. At that point, I was hooked on Ms. Hall's writing style. I have always loved fairy tales, and the twists that she created made me drool, blush, laugh and reconsider just how many fairy tales are what we think they are. ;)

So, I went through the series, grabbing Her Mad Hatter, Red and Her Wolf and Jinni's Wish. I don't think I read them in order, but I do know that I love the series. Each book, including Hook's Pan, is definitely a stand-alone, which is enhanced if you have read the other stories.

When I read this book, everything came together. The last of the Bad Five, James Hook is in the hands of his faity godmother, Danika. Having once loved and lost, he's become almost as vicious as the tales have made him out to be over tha past one hundred years. In this version of "Peter Pan", Hook isn't nearly as bad (or as ugly) as mortals have made him out to be. Peter and Tink, on the other hand, are far worse.

I absolutely loved this book, loved the series and truly hope to see more of the Kingdom soon. Like, maybe a little Hunstman or Smee action. *wink*

I could honestly fangirl over the Kingdom series forever. I love these twists on the fairy tales we all love and adore. Marie Hall uses her own imagination to give depth to characters, make them more adult, and create new worlds to fall in love with. Hook's Pan is no exception.

+Captain Hook is completely swoon worthy. An attractive, smoldering man in this tale, he is brutish but also very smooth and charming. It is no question why women are drawn to his plundering ways. He is crass to the point of sexy, and has an amazing sex appeal. Not to mention the fact that he calls Trishelle "little bird", and I think that's just darling. It wasn't long before I, like Trish, was developing an attachment to this rebellious scalliwag.

+And then there's Trish. It's not very often that I enjoy females in adult/erotica themed books. But I adore Trish. She's very blunt and sassy, and isn't the type to just lay down and let things happen. She wants control of her own life, to hell with everyone else. Whereas I believe in love, I think these are semi-admirable traits, and are a nice change from the slew of damsels in distress that I've read about lately.

+The scenery of these fairy tale realms are simply beautiful. Marie Hall takes the reader to the bottom of the ocean to frolic with seahorses and dine with mermaids, and then lifts them up to sail the air currents to see a cave of glowfish. I am drawn to these fantastical places, and I wouldn't want to leave them, not one bit. I felt utterly lost in them- this book is a great escape.

+The sex scenes are passionate, detailed, and well paced without coming off as overly crude or redundant. The steam level is through the roof, and they definitely will satisfy a naughtier palate.

My issues with this book were few: occasional choppy, incomplete sentences and sparing instances were Trish sounded a bit porn star-esque during sex. Neither of these things were enough to hinder my reading to the point where it gets anything less than five stars.

If you are a fan of fairy tales and erotica, or even just pirates, then this short read is a must. Don't forget to check out the rest of the series! If sex isn't your thing- don't read it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Marie Hall Publishing for my electronic copy.

HASH(0x98ca16e4) von 5 Sternen My Review of Hook's Pan by Marie Hall 29. Juni 2013
Von Melissa - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Kindle Edition
I would like to begin this review by stating that this was my first time reading Marie Hall's works and thus was my first experience with her Kingdom Series. Though I had no basis to judge this book beforehand I was a little worried that my excitement with the premise of this story would be shattered by corny dialogues and overly lust-filled characters that would scar my love for this story as a child. I am so happy to announce that I not only LOVED this story, but found it was extremely well written. Her immaculate character and world building had the whimsical settings and well fleshed characters easily taking over my imagination.

Captain James Hook is portrayed in this story entirely different from what I've ever known him to be. He's brooding, self-destructive, and on a quest for vengeance. Peter Pan took something from him, far more valuable than any trinket or treasure, and he wouldn't rest until the ageless nuisance had been removed from Neverland and adjoining worlds forever. His fairy Godmother Danika, the fairy with a soft spot in her heart for the bad boys of Kingdom, feared that Hook had reached the point of no return. The edge of an abyss that once entered will never leave his soul in peace. Refusing to allow that to happen to one of her charges she'd given in to the fact that she's run out of time and must take the chance to fix one of the worst injustices in Neverland before it's too late for them all.

Trishelle, or Trisha as she preferred to be called, began this tale in a dark place. The anniversary of her sister's death still weighing heavily on her heart and mind. Fighting to keep a well adjusted and carefree mask on her face has taken its toll. She doesn't believe in love, so many experiences in her life proving that it doesn't exist anywhere outside of the day dreams she refused to let herself have, and fairy tales. Suddenly, on the beating wings of a impatient fairy, her world was tossed topsy turvy. All things familiar ripped away by roaring tides, and replaced centrally in the dark, star strewn eyes of a man that saw into her soul as much as he called to her body.

Though both Hook and Trisha show no fear of the lust they have for one another, their emotional relationship was as fragile as a house of cards. The slightest breeze from fairy wings, the devilish delights of an old though forever young adversary, and the tic toc of a weighing count down, all threatened to crush their hearts and their future.

This tale swept me up in a world of fantasy and steamy romance while reintroducing me to characters I loved as a child. Though I did find myself trading teams on who I rooted for from the classical renditions. Hook was a dastardly seafaring rogue who had as little use for apologies and weakness as he did a television set from the modern world. He was rough and I loved him for it. Trisha was so headstrong. Refusing to settle for anything other than the life she felt she deserved. One where she could hold true to herself, and not be consumed by the person she'd once been. Though they were hot and heavy in the bedroom, I found their journey to discover their feelings for each other a sweet and beautiful experience. After finishing this book I immediately sought out the previous four installments in Hall's Kingdom series. If anything in this review has caught your eye, imagination, or love for an old story revisited I highly recommend you check this one out.

I love this story so much more than all of the other Peter Pan stories out there. Marie Hall's version of Hook seems so much more believable! To think Peter Pan is just an evil rotten, wild child seems so much more on par with the story line in any of the versions...and I love her portrayal of tinkerbell! I can honestly say I loved every thing about this book. As usual the characters are well thought out and written. The flow of the story is seem less and keeps you wondering what will Hook do next!

Hook is so deliciously naughty and completely unapologetic... I want one!!!!
