"Honor's Splendour" is one of the more wonderful books I have come across over the many years of reading this genre. The characters are marvelous - well defined. They blossom as you progress through the chapters. The Heroine, Madelyne, is loving, kind, strong, clumsy, spirited. Duncan, "The Wolf", is a dream come true. Strong, gentle, and kind. His brothers, Gilard and Edmond, are worth their own sequels. "Honor's Splendour" was suspenseful, funny, and sweet. Hard to find one book to cover all of these and do it well. Kudos to Ms. Garwood on a job well done. "Honor's Splendour" is a keeper, and for me, that says a lot. I have six paperbacks I have kept over the years which I re-read. Hers will become the seventh.
If sequels do exist to tell us Gilard's and Edmond's story, please let me know. I have yet to find them in my searches! If they don't exist, we should all write and beg Ms. Garwood to put an end to our misery. Let us know what kind of woman could win the heart of Gilard, the angry warrior; and Edmond, the garrulous healer.

You will absolutely adore the hero & heroine of this story. Madelyne, a gentle, compassionate beauty who has known mostly cruelty from her brother, is the prize captured when Duncan, a fiercely proud warrior and Baron of Wexton, retaliates against Madelyne's brother. The story is set amid the turbulent times of feudal England. It is interesting reading w/exciting passion & genuine love that develops between these two. The characters are so likeable w/Madelyne being loving & compassionate & Duncan being the hardened warrior who falls in love w/her. Madelyne's humor, honesty & gentleness cause Duncan's heart to be lost to her, but he really falls in love w/her in the very beginning when she warms his near frozen feet against her in a totally selfless act. I also enjoyed learning about the Greek legends she so enjoys.
Julie Garwood is one of the best writers of romance today & Honor's Splendour is one of her best efforts.

This is my most favourite book by Julie Garwood. Most of her books are my favourite. Like, The Lion's Lady and The Bride
This story is capturing from the very beginning until it's end. It's exciting and even funny. It reveals a lot of shocking secrets.
I love the courageousness of Madelyne. She is a strong, humble and caring woman, even selfless. And she is completely and shockingly honest. She is able to stand up to Duncan, which is impressing by the way his character is described.
Duncan is the strong, loyal and honorable leader, with the hard shell but compassionate heart. And definitely intimidating in appearance.
It's actually quite refreshing that He is the one who first falls in love, instead of the 'She loved him first'.
And I found it quite amusing that Duncan has so many opponents for having Madelyne's attention and affection. There are his brothers Edmond and Gilard, and his enemies Morcar and Louddan (Madelyne's stepbrother).
I just finished reading the book and I already can't wait to read it again.

As a Julie Garwood fan I really love her books but this one was definitely not as good as "The Prize" or "Gentle Warrior" which are set around the same time as far as I remember. It's more a can-read than a must-read.

I have read every book Julie Garwood has written; Honor's Splendor is the one I return to over and over again. It is a keeper! There is a sweet whimisical charm to the growing relationship between Madeleine and Duncan that is irrestable. I really enjoy the humor and the humanity of these two characters and found myself laughing out loud several times. The passion is not bad either!

I love this book! This is the second time I read the book, and still , I enjoy it so much. this book is filled with such feeling. I love the way Duncan is always trying to protect Madelynes feelings. I love the way he makes sure no one hurts her. The dialogue is witty, the story is fast paced. It's just wonderful. I would say this is my favorite Julie Garwood book, but I love them all.. The entire book is great.. I can't think of one thing I would change about it.. Buy this book It is great!

From the first chapter, I was enthralled. This is Julie Garwood at her fairy tale best. The book has everything. It's touching without being overly sappy and sentimental. It's hilarious. The book is so good that when the lights went out due to a storm, I finished it by candlelight.

I first read this book on the recomendation, no insistance, of my niece who is a librarian. I was looking for something to make me laugh and did I ever. It just doesn't get any better then this. The gradual winning over of Duncan's family and his warriors is a fit. There are so many hilarious parts it would be hard to decided which were my favorites. When she names his war horse or darts across the practice field I just howled out loud and to me were some of the high lights of the book. It has to have been at least 7 years ago since I first read this book and I bet I re-read it once a year, especially if I get depresssed. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to have fun when they read. Every single person I have encouraged to read this has loved it.

Dieses Buch kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!
Ich war sehr begeistert von der romantischen Geschichte und wie sich langsam - aber unausweichlich - die beiden Hauptfiguren näherkommen. Lesen Sie weiter...
