Author Talbot writes that ". . . there is evidence to suggest that our world and everything in it. . . are also only ghostly images, projections from a level of reality so beyond our own it is literally beyond both space and time." Hence, the title of his book. Beginning with the work of physicist David Bohm and neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, both of whom independently arrived at holographic theories or models of the universe, Talbot explains in clear terms the theory and physics of holography and its application, both in science and in explanation of the paranormal and psychic. His theory of reality accommodates this latest thinking in physics as well as many unresolved mind-body questions. This well-written and fascinating study is recommended for science collections.

Too bad Michael Talbot is dead so he doesn't have to read the previous review. Of all the books I've read on physics and spirituality--from Michio Kaku's "Hyperspace" to Gary Zukov's "The Dance of the Wu Li Masters"--this book takes the prize for its elegance, readability and ability to shock the sleepy mind. They say that reality is just a habit we fall into. To see a new reality, we need to be jarred awake. This is the book that rings the alarm clock.

The first words after the title, on the book's front cover "A remarkable new theory of reality that explains:" blah blah blah, aborts the message of this timeless classic. The information presented here is not new, nor does Mr. Talbot take credit for presenting any revolutionary new theory. What Mr. Talbot does do, is bring together a compendium of the vast resources of our past and current cultures and present the distillation of those views in a highly readable and easily digestable manner. This book cannot help but to change the life of the reader if they have even an iota of receptiveness. The only readers who will walk away unmoved by this work are those who lack the capacity to assimilate ideas new to them or those who believe they already have. For all the others, I highly praise this book.

As a student of ACIM(r), I found this a wonderful read. It is written brilliantly, and easily guides one with an open mind from the concept of linearity, to the concept of holograms and holographic time. Written with common sense examples, and clarity of thought.
