Greatest definitive book on Nazi Germany and WWII 19. November 2005
Von Waldmann Press - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
As anyone probably already knows this has for decades been the single greatest definitive book on Hitler, the Nazi Era, and WWII in general. I haven't seen a library which doesn't have this book in it's collection. This is a huge updated version containing incredible color photos and is a must for anyone interested in the subject. Contrary to certain biased and hateful people's assertions, this book is very impartial and objective, and based on FACT, something which the "powers that be" find very threatening and disturbing to the usual mix of propaganda perpetuated in the media. All the more reason to buy this book!

A book for the ages 14. Oktober 2005
Von ninthavatar - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
This book is famous for its unique method. It attempts to establish what Hitler knew and when he knew it. In effect, it is written from Hitler's point of view. The events are narrated in the order Hitler experienced them, and as he experienced them. Thus one gets a vivid feeling of being present as history unfolds, an experience stolen by "omiscient" historians and biographers. Of course Irving also includes a huge amount of information gleaned from sometimes exclusive interviews with witnesses and participants. This book has been controversial since it first appeared in the 1970s. It has been publicly criticized by many historians. But it has also been tacitly praised by them, insoar as they have borrowed heavily from Irving's research.

Finally an objective take on WWII 22. Mai 2002
Von Ein Kunde - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
David Irving has had to suffer disgusting abuse from various sources in recent years, abuses which mainly stem from people's hatred of this book. The funny thing is that all Mr Irving has tried to do is presnt the first proper history book about Adolf Hitler. Ignoring the usual idea of straight-ahead slander, Mr Irving has studied the man from various actual historical documents and letters, and even(shock horror) tried to work out how Hitler himself might have tried to justify his horrendous actions. The only problem I have with this book is that the maps are hard to read, and a lot of stuff isn't cross-referenced. If trying to see issues from both sides makes you "evil" then heaven help us all.

One of the best sources 22. Juli 2008
Von HAN - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
A work truly apart from the rest. What makes it so special is that Mr. Irving, a world-renowned historian who is an expert on WW2 HAS WRITTEN EXTENSIVELY BASED ON HIS OWN FIELDWORK, INTERVIEWS, VISITS TO ARCHIVES, etc; He goes DIRECTLY TO THE MAIN SOURCES, performs his OWN research, and unlike most of the so-called historians out there writing about WW2, he does not rely on quoting other books (many of them severely biased and flawed) or unknown, dubious sources.
"Hitler's War" is a well researched work filled with references, pictures of documents, first-hand accounts and plenty of notes.

Irving does not embellish or try to cover-up by telling half-truths. Himself British, he acknowledges that WW1 was not started or provoked by the Germans, and the same with WW2 which besides being an unnecessary war it was one that Hitler did not want but was forced into by the British (and some interest groups).

He also covers topics related to Hitler's campaigns against the Red Soviets and how he failed over faulty intelligence and harsh weather conditions, Hitler's decaying health, his final days and some of what happened afterwards.

I acquired the hard-cover 2002 edition, which also comes with "the war path", originally available separately. The dust cover is very well designed. the book's spine is strong, the print is of good quality and there are plenty of pictures with some of them in good quality color in at least 4 main sections. Definitely worth the cash.

I do not like to talk about trivial, highly questionable matters, but I have to in this case because Mr. Irving is being unfairly treated by people who never bothered reading his works and have nothing better to do with their lives than bothering that poor old man

This book is NOT about the "Holocaust".

Irving NEVER denied the holocaust. He simply states that Hitler did not know about it because there is NO PROOF that Hitler knew anything about it. In fact, in this book, he mentions the persecution of Jews quite often and even talks about their deaths in Kiev.

Irving was working on a piece that hopefully would have clarified all of this, but because of the middle-age and dark-age like draconian laws in place (in Europe and Canada and Australia) forbidding inquiry into certain historic events related to WW2, Irving was put in jail for a quote he made during an interview almost 20 years ago from a magazine. In that article the writer stated the ACKNOWLEDGED FACT that the Gas chambers in Auschwitz are a post-war RECONSTRUCTION.

Now, what kind of truth needs enforcement from such horrible and oppressive laws that take away freedom of speech and liberty and the possibility of any intelligent discussion or debate? It only makes me question the generally accepted (or promoted) "story" even more.

Irving's "Hitler's War" is recommended to EVERYONE with a genuine or even casual interest in history, but I also encourage people to read Patrick J Buchanan's NEW book "CHURCHILL, HITLER AND THE UNNECESSARY WAR" Churchill, Hitler, and "The Unnecessary War": How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the Worldand Nicholson Baker's "HUMAN SMOKE" "Human Smoke: The Beginnings of World War II, the End of Civilization".
Also read about the WEINMAR REPUBLIC, that period in Germany before Hitler rose to power, and read "THE CREATURE FROM JEKYLL ISLAND" The Creature from Jekyll Islandby Edward Griffin and you will have a far more complete picture of WW2 events.

Do Not Imprison Your Thoughts 2. März 2006
Von Baracas - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
How dare they! If a man's ideas and thoughts do not cause violence, who are they to imprison his body? Why restrict his ideas? What are they afraid of? Allow the scholars to refute his research and stop burning books by imprisoning the authors.

A unique approach to history and worthy of testing your convictions. Do you have strong convictions that can withstand a different viewpoint?
