A beautiful read! 7. Juni 2014
Von Deepa Sethi - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
As a professional Sikh woman born and raised in the US, it was truly refreshing to be able to identify with other Sikh women in the western world and abroad. I felt that I could relate to almost every story on some level. As a Sikh mother, it was so inspiring to read about other Sikh mothers and the values of Sikhi they are instilling in their children at a young age. As a Sikh daughter, living in a home with my in-laws, I absolutely loved the stories about parents and in-laws, stories that addressed ethics, virtues and values, and knowing what matters most. And as a Sikh wife, I adored the stories about marriage and falling in love. Each and every story filled me with such a range of emotions - happiness, sadness, smiles, and some left me in tears. I couldn't wait to turn each page and read what's next. I'm looking forward to coming back to this book time and time again.

A Community of Women 5. Juni 2014
Von Priyneha Gohil - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
In 2014, Sikh women’s voices are still missing from powerful spaces in our community. You won’t find them on gurdwara committees or singing kirtan at Darbar Sahib. That’s why Her Name is Kaur offers a voice that Sikhs need to hear.

But it also presents a voice that women everywhere need to hear. The timing of Her Name is Kaur fits right in to our Lean In, #yesallwomen era. Its stories remind every woman that each of us stands for all of us. All women – Sikh or not - need to build their own communities or sangats to support, love and reflect on their lives.

Her Name is Kaur is a special text because it allows us to immerse ourselves in our sangat at a moment’s notice. No matter where you’re standing, just open the book to any page and you'll be pulled right back into the safety of that langar kitchen, surrounded by the women and stories that inspire and compel you to be yourself.

A special Book 3. Juni 2014
Von Gurvinder Singh - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Her Name is Kaur: Sikh American Women Write About Love, Courage, And Faith published by She Writes Press is a book where Sikh American women share stories about what has carved them into the human beings they are today.

Every story’s uniqueness highlights the intuitiveness of each writer in their given or created circumstances.

'Her Name is Kaur' is a special book for Sikh women, yet necessary for a Sikh man. For the Sikh woman it gives a glimpse into your own life, yet transports you into someone else’s in an instant. For a Sikh man, it reminds him that the story of the Kaur stands shoulder to shoulder with his own and reminds him that he is not alone in the journey to live up to his ideals.

Her Name is Kaur is an important collection for every Sikh home, it is sure to capture a non Sikh audience, as well.

Inspiring, Courageous and Blessed 26. Juni 2014
Von Subrina Singh - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Having been a part of Sikh Love Stories, creating this novel has been a thrilling ride. As a Sikh, love is a driving force in my life, whether it is between myself, God or for another. Writing about love and it's bliss is extremely rewarding; having read the entire book now, it is without a doubt that these women have surpassed courageous. The stories are y full of love, inspiration and courage but also reach to the reader at a very personal level. I felt as if I could relate to each and every story with great compassion.

This book is only the beginning of the opening conversation not only for Kaurs, but the Sikh community on a whole and their relationship with LOVE!
Courageous & Beautifully Inspiring! 16. August 2014
Von RK - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
It's so inspiring to pick up a book that I can relate to on so many levels. All the women that contributed to this amazing book have taken pieces of themselves and shared them openly and honestly. It takes courage to share such beautiful and painful stories and I applaud each and every one of them. We are so much more then our 'labels' and these short stories reflect their female spirit and soul in ways that has never really been spoken aloud before.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about Sikh women and the myriad of ways in which they show up in life.
