3.0 von 5 Sternen Beef Stew 20. Juli 2011
Von Bennie L. Newsome - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Verifizierter Kauf
I didn't like every story in this anthology, but an anthology is a lot like beef stew in that way. It is chocked full of various ingredients and not everyone is prone to like everything. So what do you do? You pick out what you don't like and you push it to the side. And that's what I did with this anthology. I sat what I didn't like to the side, and I was still left with enough beef tips and potatoes to make a substanial meal. In the end, I would recommend this anthology because it contains some awesome stories by some talented women. "Hell Hath no Fury" is not one to miss.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good Mix of Female Authors 26. August 2011
Von Ursula K. Raphael - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Let's get this out of the way: I can't stand the intros to each story...it's not so bad reading a little background about each author, but I don't need a freakin' intro for each story...a general intro to the anthology would suffice. If the stories are good, I don't need to be prepped by the editor. It often has the opposite effect.

Hell Hath No Fury did have a great collection of zombie stories written by female authors. Nice way to discover new authors - like an undead buffet. A few stories were a little on the blah side, especially after having read zombie novels by D'Orazio and DiLouie, but most of them were better than expected.

SLIDING INTO SECOND by Elsa M. Carruthers grabbed me from the start. I was immediately interested in her main character: a woman who contracts SuperSyph from her bisexual girlfriend. The virus has a nasty Stage 2.

CHICK MAGNET by Tonia Brown flipped between flashbacks and present time, as a young peeping tom finds a zombie outbreak at an all-female camp.

WAKING THE DEAD by Chantal Boudreau had a nice set-up with a coffee from Haiti that causes people to fall ill; the employees try to fortify the shop during a zombie outbreak.

One of the very best in the book was CRANIAL REWIRE by DA Chaney. She did a great job of using dialogue to keep up the pace of the story, as well as alternating POVs. Loved the zombie outbreak in the middle of a winter storm.

POPULATION ZOMBIE by Candace Gleave tells the tale of a survivor making a new life for himself in an undead world.

Another fantastic story that stood out was THE PETITIONERS by Rebecca Lloyd. Great use of dark humor: a governor is in denial about the state of his protesters. The secretary was the bomb!!

SNOWCOMBE by Emma Tett was absolutely fabulous. I wish she would turn this into a full-length novel. In the story, a post-apocalyptic town tries to control the zombies humanely with a beacon...but, of course, nothing goes as planned.

THE CANDIDATES by Jordan Deen was one of the stories that I can't really talk about at the risk of spoiling the plot, but it was deeply disturbing - great horror.

PIECES by Rebecca Snow is a very sad story that I can't talk about because I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone.

TIPS by Dina Leacock had some frank humor that I really enjoyed - very refreshing. "Never-Dying Grass" causes serious problems for a waitress and a society that tried a little too hard to be environmentally friendly.

THE BASEBALL BAT AND THE AXE by Hanna Masaryk was a post-apocalyptic day for two survivors. I love how France was blamed for the outbreak. Ha ha ha.

LOVE STINKS by Stacey B. Longo is about an idiot chick that loves her boyfriend waaay too much.

ZOMBIE LOVE SONG by Jennifer Allis Provost did a great job of blending sci-fi flavor with undead horror. Kind of like 1984 with zombies.

I'm glad to have found some more female authors with a great writing style...I'm hoping to see more undead stories from most of them.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Good mix of Zombie stories - scary, sad and even funny 19. Februar 2014
Von Jim Kochanoff Halifax - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Sometimes a short story is scarier because your mind fills in the details that aren't explained. Despite the setup, the stories are all fairly different. I will never drink a new brand of coffee again thanks to Chantal Boudreau's "Waking the Dead."

4.0 von 5 Sternen Hell Hath No Fury edited by T W Brown 30. Juni 2012
Von Kindle Customer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
This anthology contains 13 stories by various authors. Each story is in the zombie genre'.

I am a new convert to the zombie genre' and admit I am not an expert nor have I read very many of the genre.

None the less I enjoyed this compilation very much. Each story was unique, the collection had varied plot line, some very dark and others brought smiles and giggles. All of the authors brought their own style and the variety was good.

For those who are already addicted to zombies this will be a fun addition to their collection for new readers of the genre it will be a good place to start.

5.0 von 5 Sternen GIRL POWER! 15. April 2012
Von Gregory Hadley - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
This is a fascinating anthology, a book I will read again and again. The stories gave me a whole new perspective on, and respect for, the mysterious female mind. Every gory story made a lasting impression on me, my imagination was incited and excited by the estrogen fueled tales of terror. The art is awesome, the drawings are a Spank Bank of beautiful women. I would recommend this anthology to my friends, and not just my Death Metal music loving friends. I recommend this anthology to everyone, especially men and lesbians that consider strong, intelligent women to be the most incredible beings in existence.
