I don't read manga that often as I'm not a fan of the generic modern art style. I'll devour a good one when it reaches my hands though, and that's what happened when I found Hell Baby. This is my second book from Hino, my first Bug Boy, both about outcasts in their own ways. I found myself feeling for poor Hell Baby as she attempted to find her way in "Life." I later showed this to my girlfriend, and she felt the same way. You want this book to end happily, yet you know half way through there is no way she could ever been taken as an ordinary girl in society. The end breaks my heart every time, but perhaps I'm to much of a softy when I read these things. Either way, I think if you've got the money to spend and you're a fan of horror manga there's plenty worse you could spend it on. The only complaint here is one that isn't my own, my girlfriend noted the writing here is not nearly as good as Junji Ito. While Hino writes simplistically though, there is beauty to that so each hold their own weight in my book.
So as I said before, grab this and take an unexpected ride on the emotional rollercoaster.
Likewise, if you're as picky as me check out Junji Ito as a mangaka and Ayakashi/Mononoke as an anime if you've not heard of them yet.
