Domestic abuse really boils my blood. I know and understand not every person in an abusive situation is able to get away or live to tell his/her story. Have You Seen Her? by Chicki Brown is the story of Marcia Hadley and Danielle "Dani" Reynolds. What are the similarities and differences of Marcia and Danielle?
Marcia was married to Reggie for seven years before he began putting his hands on her in a negative way. For three years, Reggie abused Marcia in every way possible, until she reached her breaking point. With a well-thought out plan on leaving her old life behind, Marcia disappears from California. While she fades into the darkness, Dani emerges into the light in New Jersey.

Dani and Marcia is the same woman, but at the same time are different. Marcia was the weaker of the two and as her plan developed and Dani came to light, a change occured. Dani made the necessary sacrifices in order to survive. Two of the things she decides do are to find a job that is out of the ordinary for her and the next was to live in a neighborhood with unsavory characters. At her new job, Dani meets sexy, strong, and mysterious Taylor Villanova. They both make preconceived judgments about each other. Will they live up to the other's opinion?

Taylor has women pining after him all the time. There is another side to him, outside of being a bouncer that not everyone knows about. Even though Dani is not the typical woman who would intrigue him, he finds himself wondering about the real woman behind the pretty face. His main job is to protect the employees and customers of the club, but outside of the club his mind gets filled with the strong desire to keep Dani safe from all harm. How far will Taylor go to do just that?

I really enjoyed this book even with the seriousness of the underlying topic. The uncertainty of each character made the story very realistic. They were well developed. The human characters were not the only characters of the story. The setting in California and New Jersey was as well. Like Dani and Marcia was the opposite balance of each other, so was the fundamental nature of each state. There were many good things within the story that I could go on and on about. The one issue I did have was the poor editing. I recommend Have You Seen Her? to readers who enjoy romance and multicultural relationships.

I really enjoyed this book. When you finish a book and still think of the characters, you know you read a good book. Eagerly waiting Mrs. Brown next one.

Chicki Brown's Have You Seen Her is about a woman in an unhealthy relationship and what she does to find herself. Marcia Hadley, Santa Barbara, California socialite has been married for seven years to the heir of a family fortune, has the finest home, cars and clothes, yet that isn't enough to keep Marcia from leaving her husband.

Have You Seen Her is an exciting and well-developed story that pulled me in and kept me reading. Ms. Brown has created a fascinating story with intriguing characters. You root for Marcia all the way until she finds true love with a man who not only appreciates her but treats her with respect and dignity. The romance is hot, the suspense keeps you on edge and Ms. Brown's prose are just beautiful. I look forward to seeing more from this author.
